As great an email device as the BlackBerry is, one of the things that you can’t do is flag your emails for follow up. Well, once again, BlackBerry developer extraordinaire, Fabian Heuwieser, creator of about a dozen or so extremely popular premium and free BlackBerry applicatoins, has released LaterFlag.
LaterFlag is a free BlackBerry app that does what your BlackBerry should do (and will do in OS 5) out of the box. As the name implies, LaterFlag simply allows you flag your emails and set their priority as high or low.
You can download LaterFlag OTA directly to your device here. You can see other applications from Fabian Heuwieser here.

Update 2: BBerryApp.com has pulled verision 1.3 and have gone back to version 1.1. They have an open request for volunteers wanting to help they test version 1.3. You can get in touch with them via their contact form.
Update: We’ve been hearing reports that this new version is having more issues than the last one, so, if things are already working for you, you may want to hold off on updating to the new version.
Forward, Reply, and Edit, the free BlackBerry application that allows you to do exactly what it’s name implies, has been updated to version 1.3. The new version fixes an APN error that some users were experiencing.
You can pick up Forward, Reply, and Edit by pointing your device’s browser to the following link…

One of the really annoying things about BlackBerry devices is that they don’t allow you to edit messages when you reply to them or forward them. A really cool free BlackBerry application that we can across today changes all of that, however.
Forward, Reply, and Edit for BlackBerry does exactly what its name implies. It allows you to edit messages that you intend to forward or reply to. This ability is so basic that it is hard to believe that it isn’t already included in the BlackBerry OS. To be completely honest, I imagine that it will eventually show up in the OS, however, until it does Forward, Reply, and Edit is there for.
As we said earlier, Forward, Reply, and Edit is a free BlackBerry download and you can download it OTA to your BlackBerry by pointing your device’s browser to the following link…

I was just thinking about the applications that I use most frequently on my BlackBerry and what I realized was that with the exception of the address book, the majority of them are free downloads.
That has prompted me to write this post and share with you what I believe to be 5 must have free BlackBerry downloads:
- BlackBerry Messenger — I am not going to tell you that BlackBerry Messenger is the best Free IM client for the BlackBerry, but, I am going to tell you that it is a must have free BlackBerry download because all BlackBerry users can use it.
- Google Maps — Google Maps is a nifty little app that allows you to easily search for businesses and get directions to and from, show you the location on a map, and even give you a satellite picture of the area. If you are looking for a Pizza parlor you could search for pizza with your zip code and all the matching results will be returned in an easy to navigate interface. One of the really cool features is that you can call the the business you searched for right from the Google Maps application.
