Poynt for BlackBerry

Poynt For BlackBerry Updated

by Robb Dunewood on March 6, 2009 · 2 comments

It hasn’t been quite a month since Poynt, the self described online version of your local Superpages or Yellow Pages that comes complete with maps – so you can pinpoint nearby businesses, get contact info… and find out how to get there, was updated to support the BlackBerry Storm, however, it appears that it has been updated again to version 1.0.0.29.

I am going to assume Poynt 1.0.0.129 contains just minor bug fixes over version 1.0.0.15 as I haven’t been able to find any release notes or major enhancements to the application.

Poynt is a free BlackBerry download and actually one of the applications what was on our 5 Free BlackBerry Storm Applications Worth Downloading list.  Personally I think that Poynt is just one of those applications you should install if you own a BlackBerry.

If you already have Poynt installed it will prompt you to update next time you use it.  If you don’t you can install it OTA by point your device’s BlackBerry Browser to http://m.mypoynt.com/crackberry/storm/.

RIMarkable reader Curtis just sent us an email this morning telling us about a free BlackBerry application that gives you pretty good local search capabilities that rival Beyond 411, one of my top free BlackBerry downloads of all time.

He said, “There is a application that you might want to mention to your readers that I just picked up on. It is called Poynt for BlackBerry and is a free local search utility that rivals Beyond 411. Poynt pretty much gives you the same information but is a lot prettier.”

One thing that I know RIMarkable readers like are free BlackBerry applications so I figure that I would spread the word. I’ve only been playing with Poynt for about 45 seconds so I can’t give it a full review just yet. I can confirm, however, it is nice looking.

You can check it out by downloading it OTA directly to your BlackBerry. Just visit m.mypoynt.com via your devices BlackBerry browser. Let us know what you think in the comments.
