BoyGenius has been busy lately reporting on the BlackBerry 8300. Just recently he has posted comparison pictures of the 8300 along with the BlackBerry 8800.
The keyboard on the BlackBerry 8300 is awesome seeing how the device is considerably smaller than the BlackBerry 8800.

So, the BlackBerry 8800 just came out, soon to be followed by the 8820. Verizon will eventually come out with an 88-something or other and the 8300 is the next “greatest BlackBerry ever.”
Personally, I think that RIM should continue with giving new BlackBerrys names like Pearl. I bet you way more people know the name BlackBerry Pearl as compared to BlackBerry 8100.
The BlackBerry numbers game can be quite confusing and even though the BlackBerry Pearl was hugely successful, RIM still aims to give you a plethora of number designations to distinguish their devices by. Fortunately, however, the Boy Genius has broken it all down for us…

Amazon.com is selling the BlackBerry 8800 for $124.99 with a $25 mail-in-rebate when you sign up for an AT&T service plan. Is it just me, or is that an incredibly low price for a device that just came out a few weeks ago?
We often see the big price cuts, especially from the big online retailers, right before a new BlackBerry is released. The BlackBerry 8800, however was released 3 weeks ago. Could the BlackBerry 8300 be just right around the corner? Could it be that consumers sales of the BlackBerry 8800 are lackluster and Amazon wants to get rid of its inventory well before release dates for the 8300 are leaked all over the internet?
I bet that it is probably a bit of both. Even still, if you want to get a tweener device between the BlackBerry 8700 and the BlackBerry 8300, $99.99 even for a BlackBerry 8800 is not a bad price. Not a bad price at all.

Lindsay Lohan is one of the first celebrities that we’ve seen with the new BlackBerry 8800 from Cingular. If you take a look at this close-up picture, you can see definitely tell that this is is indeed the new device.

The BlackBerry Pearl is on Rogers Site and will cost $799 Canadian without a contract, $599 on a two year contract, or $499 on a three year contract. All that is left to find out is when is the Rogers BlackBerry 8800 coming out?
The March 7th date has come and passed so all we can tell you is eventually, sooner than later, or sometime between now and then. I wouldn’t be shocked to see some Canadian BlackBerry users buying Cingular BlackBerry 8800 devices and getting them unlocked to work on Rogers if Rogers themselves don’t start selling the 8800 soon.

It seems like as time goes by, more and more not so stellar reviews of the BlackBerry 8800 hit the blogosphere. Matt Loney from ZDNet.UK recently posted that the BlackBerry 8800 is a “bit of a dud”.
I know someone that works in a Cingular store and they told me that the BlackBerry Pearl saw higher than usual returns for a BlackBerry when it first came out but it was mostly because new consumer BlackBerry users didn’t want to pay the extra BlackBerry fees. He says however, that the BlackBerry 8800 returns dwarf that of the BlackBerry Pearl and the most common reason is, “I liked my 8700 better.”
I didn’t particularly care for the BlackBerry 8800. Om Malik wasn’t that impressed. Numerous other BlackBerry 8800 reviewers have the same sentiment. Could it be that RIM has released their first BlackBerry dud?

There still is no official word on when Rogers Wireless will actually start selling the BlackBerry 8800, however, it looks like they are just about ready to.
A BlackBerry Cool insider that goes by the name Mr. Rogers has sent BlackBerry Cool several pictures of Rogers BlackBerry 8800 marketing materials.

Here is an stat that really doesn’t mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things when it comes to how well the BlackBerry is really doing but it is an interesting statistic none the less. The fairly popular PDA site Brighthand says that the BlackBerry is the least popular PDA on it’s site.
Each month, Brighthand publishes a list of the most popular handhelds and smartphones. This report is compiled based on the number of views each product page receives, so every time someone clicks on a product they’re giving it a vote in these monthly rankings.
This listing doesn’t necessarily indicate which models are the best selling, just which ones Brighthand readers are most interesting in learning more about.

I’ve been hearing rumors lately and even received an email or two about an update to BlackBerry Desktop Manager due out shortly that has significant enhancements to the BlackBerry Media Manager.
Could it be that Roxio, the world’s leading provider of consumer digital media creation applications, has completely revamped the interface for the BlackBerry Media Manager, now allowing you to rip CDs and DVDs as well as added a ton of other features?
Remember, this is just a rumor, however, the days of the BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry 8800 absolutely sucking as an MP3 player may soon come to an end.
