Over the passed day or so, I’ve been taking a look at various smartphones that target individual consumers across various networks and one thing that I noticed was that T-Mobile’s original BlackBerry Pearl 8100 is much less expensive than everything else out there.
The device itself, with a two year service plan, costs under a $150 bucks after a mail-in rebate which is on par with the lowest of the low on devices that can be considered smart phones. Then there is the $9.99 unlimited data plan. Well, that is just unheard of.
T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Pearl is not only a very inexpensive option for a smartphone, but, is an attractive option as a feature phone as well.
I think that the the “Old School BlackBerry Pearl” will do very well this holiday season.

Research in Motion along with MTN bring the BlackBerry to Cypruss.
All over the world, BlackBerry smartphones are enhancing the way people communicate and interact with information. Being away from the office or separated from your PC no longer means you are out of touch, because the BlackBerry smartphone empowers you with real-time connectivity ” said Bassel Jamaleddine, CEO of MTN. “People have become used to MTN leading the market by introducing the best solutions to our customers, and all of us at MTN are very excited and proud to be launching the BlackBerry solution here today.
What I find kind of interesting is that MTN will initially only offer the BlackBerry Curve and the BlackBerry Pearl. Does the lack of BlackBerry 8800 support paint a broader picture of that device’s future? That’s probably a topic for another post.

Over the passed few months we have been hearing a lot of rumors about EV-DO version of the BlackBerry Pearl. A little over a month ago, Seeking Alpha said that Verizon would get the BlackBerry Pearl in May. Today they are saying by Q2, however, the EV-DO Pearl may have an updated camera and media software.
WES 2007 starts tomorrow. Might we see the release of a new BlackBerry Pearl with a 2.0 megapixel camera and the updated Roxio media player?
I certainly hope so…

Keith from Kradest.com dropped us an email letting us know that he has released several free BlackBerry 8100 themes.
This didn’t seem like something that we should keep to ourselves so we’ve provided links where you can download the free BlackBerry 8100 themes here, here, here, and here and you can see what that rest of them look like after the jump.

Vincent Verweij from Makayama Interactive sent me, along with others, an email letting us know that Media Studio for BlackBerry 1.0 was launched today.
The easiest software to transfer DVDs directly to your Blackberry. Convert and watch movies, YouTube video, home videos and much more on the Blackberry Pearl (8100) and other upcoming video-enabled Blackberries.
Media Studio appears to have pretty good compression. You can store up to 8 feature films on a single 1GB memorycard.
Media Studio for BlackBerry 1.0 will set you back $34.95 or 29.95 (EUR) and you can test it out before you buy it. Verizon won’t have the BlackBerry Pearl or 8800 until sometime around 2024 so I won’t be able to give you a full review. If one of you BlackBerry Pearl toting CrackBerry Addicts give it the once over, leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Looks like we were right after all. The Cingular BlackBerry Pearl will be here before Thanksgiving, According to the Boy Genius Report, Cingular’s BlackBerry 8100 Pearl is coming November 21st.
Cingular BlackBerry Pearl
Rumor has it that Cingular’s BlackBerry Pearl will be out before mid-December. All I can say is, “I certainly hope so!”
BBHub reader Scott tells Russell Shaw that according to the people in the BlackBerry Booth at the New York City Marathon Expo, the BlackBerry Pearl will be available on Cingular before December 11th. Hopefully, RIM and Cingular are wise enough to release before the 11th because that is a full 2 1/2 weeks after Thanksgiving.
