Remember that Verizon teaser site that we talked about the other day with the counter counting down to this morning? We thought that Verizon was going to make some big announcement about the BlackBerry Pearl 8130. Well, after three and a half days of waiting, Verizon finds yet another way to disappoint.
We never really thought that Verizon was going to release the 8130 today. We did kind of think that they would at least tell us the date it would be available. Verizon, however, did no such thing. They gave us a sign-up from to be notified when it becomes available.
Wow… What marketing geniuses they have.
Same geniuses that did the same trick for the iphone. Gives them an idea of how many people really care about new cutting edge devices.
Verizon is a piece of shit, it always was and always will be.. I am sure this pearl will have the gps and video recording crippled like the 8830 and they will disable the number 9 key as well.
I am not joking.
BlackBerry Pearl 8130 — will grace your leather cases and USB chargers on November 8th, with pre-ordering starting October 26th. And that took a whole 10secs of searching to find that info. And Ya Verizon sucks but at least we got the pearl even if its a year late.
It didn’t even take 10 seconds. The previous post has a picture with the pre-order and website availability dates.
Verizon does suck though. Except for their network.
Its’ the network baby! A contact I have a VZW told me that the Curve is launching soon, like Nov-can anyone confirm?
How would they cripple the video recording? Did they just take it out of the 8830 completely? I can see the GPS, since they have a service for that (not that it’s okay, but I can see the logic), but don’t understand how/why they’d take out video recording.
I doubt seriously that they will disable video recording.
oh it’s getting deep for the vealot sheep. “all this productivity in a sleek silver color exclusive to verizon wireless”
exclusive color’s now huh? LAME as LAME can get. Because verizon sure isn’t talking about any RIM technology being exclusive to verizon. Whats next t-mo saying red, blue and gold Pearl are exclusive to them?
It’s a blackberry Pearl, scratch that, it’s a blackberry, does color matter over function now?
In a consumer device, sadly, color probably does matter to some. Trust me when I tell you that many a decision has been made based on this phone is cuter that that one when you are talking about consumers.
Very good point. Case in point: the popularity of the pink razr amongst the young female demographic.
Color is important! I really don’t like Verizon’s “all silver” mentality. I loved the contrast of the black with the “old” Pearls. Oh well.
Does anyone know if Verizon would let you buy this phone without having to sign up for a data plan? I’d like to have the phone for a while before committing the extra money for data. Do they require a data plan when buying a smart phone?
verizon has chosen, and spoken. The vealot sheep will comply or else.

pearl release postponed cause they were hopeful that vznav would be up and running. looks like nav will wait for LateQ4 EarlyQ1. Launch will be end of OCT or early NOV.
Quit crying. you’ll get it and it will be better than what is currently associated with the name PEARL. Tons of enhancements. But I am sure people will complain about the lack of WIFI. Even though this Pearl enhanced the browser so it emulates faster than WIFI.
