Update: Canada voted and the BlackBerry is the 18th Greatest Canadian Invention…
Today is the day that we will find out if the BlackBerry, according to CBC viewers, is the Greatest Canadian Invention.
The BlackBerry, along with 49 other Canadian inventions are in the running and votes will be tallied from all over Canada to see who the winner is.
As much as we love the BlackBerry I don’t think it has too much of a chance. Although it may make the short list, it has to compete with inventions such as the telephone, the electric oven, insulin, and even the retractable beer carton handle.
How could the BlackBerry possibly compete with the retractable beer carton handle?
If you live in Canada, you can catch the show tonight at 8:00 P.M. on your local CBC affiliate.
Well the BB came in 18 as voted by Canadians through polling organized by the CBC. I thought it would have rated much higher. It should have made it at least into the top 10. If you look at the light bulb, the telephone, and radio transmission, they can be claimed by other countries due to connections through the inventors or simultaneous development. Insulin, without a question, is #1 and should be #1. It has saved thousands and thousands of lives. Over 17 million people world wide rely on it. Thank you Dr. Banting and Dr. Best.
Where did the retractable beer carton handle come in? 🙂
I think it was 21 or 20, Robb.
