Research in Motion today announced the release of BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.1 with immediate availability for Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes.

There are a lot of new features in the new release but the ones that I am anticipating most revolve around Enterprise Instant Messaging. There will be support for presence, group chat, “buddy list” synchronization, messaging auditing and enterprise access controls with Microsoft and IBM messaging servers. Most of the other new features make the day-to-day jobs of BlackBerry administrators and developers easier.
