More Awfully Good Looking Pictures Of The BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider Hit The Web

June 4, 2010 by Robb Dunewood 6 Comments

CrackBerry has probably the best looking pictures of the BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider, rumored to hit AT&T by months end, to hit the web yet.  I have no intention on moving to AT&T to get this device, however, I must say what an awfully good looking device the Bold 9800 Slider is.

If the June release rumors are true, we should, unless Apple AT&T is going the Verizon route and officially announcing the Bold 9800 Slider less 24 hours before the time of it’s release, start to hear official word on this device any time now.

Beautiful piece of hardware! My only worry is the mechanical aspect. Any mechanical element will be prone to wear and tear issues. We’ve seen problems with ribbon cables wearing out on sliders. The ribbon cable is a ultra-fine cable that is flexible enough to unroll when a slide is extended and roll up when the slide is retracted. The cable provides power and control signals to the upper part of the phone (keys, display, etc.). In my opinion this is the weakness of the slider form factor.
