Word on the street is that the BlackBerry Storm 2 may launch a lot sooner than we thought it was. Beleive it or not, the Storm 2 could come out as early as the end of this month and, according to BlackBerryOS forum moderator BlackBerry OS, who BGR vouches for, will come out by the end of June at the latest.
I just received an e-mail from an ‘insider’ who works for Verizon over in their offices located down the street. This person works on a senior level and has been right in the past with her information. She mentioned that Verizon has been training their tech support all last week and this week for the Storm 2. They have been told to be ready to support this by the end of this month. Could this mean the Storm 2 will be out by the end of this month? She could not confirm the day of the release but she did say it will be out soon. The end of next month the latest. She also did mention that the Storm 2 WILL have WiFi. She will be e-mailing me documentation with in the week and once I receive them, you will be the 2nd to see them.
Could we see a BlackBerry Storm 2 and a BlackBerry Tour launch around the same time? It will be an interesting start to the summer to say the least.

The more that I think about it, the more I believe that the BlackBerry Storm 2 can’t possibly come out this month.
Verizon will have to really hype this device up, maybe even more so than the original Storm. They need to get it in the hands of reviewers who, hopefully, will tell the world how great the device is.
If anything happens this month, it could be an official announcement, but that would probably be about it.
Hope I am wrong though…
It will be interesting to see what people like David Pogue who blasted the first storm and Walt Mossberg will have to say about it.
It would make sense. They can iron out the OS for both devices. Also to match the Pre’s thunder.
I sincerely doubt it will be released this month. Would’ve seen the sku hit the VZW database by now.
Maybe RIM is going to be smart and release it unbranded and unlocked. Lot’s of money to be made that way.

The Storm 2 might not be a huge role out, but more of a quiet upgrade when the stock of the original run out?
How do I get on list to test new storm?
I love my storm and would love to see what new improvements have been implemented.
Seeing as I have the original Storm and the insurance…I wonder how long I’ll have to wait for the phone to have an “accident” before I can get the newer Storm 2?
I think the insurance causes more trouble than it is worth.
That’s why I don’t have it and instead bought a black BB condom to keep it from breaking from my clumsy hands.
@nomanarmy – i think you should wait a couple weeks into the release before dropping the storm into the washing machine or dishwasher. but it kinda depends because they might have storm 1 stocked up as well.
@Rob – I personally feel Verizon does better without the TV and ad hype when coming out with new phones.
Viral marketing is so much more powerful as it’s all user reviews and opinions and if they are positive in the beginning, they will be the louder voice.
Plus it would be interesting to see if Verizon does release the Tour and the Storm 2 around the same time. That would be a huuuuge kickstart for the summer I think as this gives the consumer more “options” in choosing a smartphone. This will then be totally decided based on who likes what. Some people love the storm, others prefer a keyboard.
But again, quiet releases always do best as everyone is waiting and becomes impulsive.
I just got off the phone with my Verizon rep and they just came out of a meeting. He’s confirmed that two (2) BB phones will be released in June. They did not disclose which phones will be released, but it’s safe to say that the Pearl Flip will be one, with the Storm 2 or Tour being the other. Also, the official Storm SW update will be released on June 15.
That’s nice to hear. I’m planning to change my iPhone now to try something different.
That VZW and RIM would so soon release the Storm 2 after the Storm 1 must be an indicator that the Storm 1 is not doing that well in sales and has a poor reputation in the marketplace.
I think VZW wants to have a nice touchscreen BB out in time to compete against the new iPhone release, as well as the Pre.
So let me get this, BlackBerry is a Canadian company but U.S gets to release the new BlackBerry Storm 2 first? :S
I mean, I am Canadian and I do love Canada and everything…but this SUCKS! 🙁
