UK based telecommunications carrier O2 and Research in Motion today introduced the BlackBerry 7130g to O2’s mobile customers in the United Kingdom. The BlackBerry 7130g is the first “candybar” style Blackberry to sport the 312MHz Intel XScale processor currently found only in BlackBerry 8700 series devices.
The BlackBerry 7130g just happens to look exactly like the Blackberry 7130c rumored to come out on Cingular’s network here in the United States anytime. In case your are curious to see what the inside of one of these things looks like you can take a look at a few internal pics.
Forgive me if this is a dumb question but when you say that this new blackberry is the first “candybar” style blackberry to have the intel processor, what to you mean by “candybar”?
If you notice, the BlackBerry 71xx series devices are much thinner than their traditional BlackBerry counterparts such as the 8700 or the 72xx series devices. Each button actually has two letters on them and predictive text typing software called suretype helps figure out what letter to use when you hit a key.
I personally love this style BlackBerry, however, I haven’t heard too many people say that they just think it is ok.
Most either love it or hate it.
While I prefer a full QWERTY style keyboard, I do agree that this candybar style is very nice and a more portable device.
So for me, it’s a tradeoff. A phone that’s smaller and easier to carry, versus a full keyboard.
According to engadgetmobile.com, it looks like the BB 7130c may launch on June 13:
