I got one. I have been using a pearl. The iPhone is really amazing. If you are an email power user, don’t dump your blackberry. Nothing beats a berry for email
Here in Italy iPhone will arive late … but nothing will be better of my blackbrries!
got and iPhone.. AWESOME.. bye bye pearl..
Picked up an iPhone today. Remarkable product! I like my 8703, but I LOVE the iPhone. I’ll be keeping the Berry for work purposes and using the iPhone for all personal calls. Guess that just means I’ll be carrying two phones from now on.
The only thing the Blackberry really has over the Apple is the keyboard. They tell me it will take some time to get used to the touch-screen keyboard, so we’ll see. I must say, though, that the email interface (less the keyboard) blows away anything from Blackberry. Sorry.
What do you think, Robb? Are you happy with your iPhone?
I played around with one at the Apple store and it is mighty impressive. It has several amazing features, and is the first phone I’ve seen where people find it to be so fun to use. The screen, the interface, the web browser…they all change the game.
The iPhone looks cool but other than the screen, there is really nothing revolutionary about it and even the cool thing (the screen) seems to be a liability (fingerprints, scratches, etc.).
I have tried a LOT of other phones but I still come back to Blackberrys’ because they are reliable and have the best email system. Just upgraded to the 8800 and the built in GPS beats anything that iPhone has.
Scott A,
Your comment would be more worth while if you got “a iPhone” and not what your hopes and dreams make you think about the iPhone.
I got one and it is pretty cool. I came to The Bahamas the next day after launch and people were just gawking over it. It is alot of phone the keyboard is already confortable and usable. Apple kicked it this time. Total winner!
@ Thought,
I think that Apple may have left the door open for an iPhone competitor…
The device itself is lives up to the hype and I am quite impressed. Unfortunately, AT&T’s network is what I expected… SLOW!
Okay…….
I’ve had a few days to really play with the iPhone and now no longer see the keyboard as a liability. After three days of practice I can type just as fast as I can on my 8703, if not faster. The big liability is the network. AT&T absolutely sucks. I am fortunate to be on Verizon with the Blackberry, and the network has been fast and reliable. The EDGE network on the other hand…….I’ll be kind and just say that I’m disappointed. When you are connected Wi-fi the iPhone absolutely screams. Of course in 9 months when they release a 3G version I’ll obsess over it and find a way to justify a purchase. I’m such a sucker.
I had a chance to show it off at work today. I showed it to two people who really had no idea what the iPhone was all about, hadn’t really watched the ads, etc. Their eyes almost popped out of their heads when I started demonstrating all of the features. I’ve never had that kind of reaction with my trusty Blackberry.
So, how do you compare the two? You can’t. Blackberry is a corporate workhorse. You can knock it down and it’s going to get right back up and say “it that all you’ve got?” It’s function over form. It functions flawlessly, but it will never win any beauty contests. There are passionate Blackberry owners, but my guess is that 12 months from now there will be twice as many PASSIONATE iPhone owners (emphasis on the word passionate). The iPhone is more like the hot chick in high school that had brains as well. Style and substance. Beauty and brains, although it’s the beauty that keeps you thinking about it all night. In it’s current form the iPhone will have far less appeal to business users, despite what Mr. Jobs would have you believe.
Sure there’s some crossover with people like me, but I’ll go out on a limb and say that most smartphone owners will ultimately fall into one of two camps: function or form.
I think iPhone and Blackberry can peacefully coexist.
