It seems like after Verizon’s dud of an announcement that they will “let you know” when the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 is available, all the talk moved on to the BlackBerry 9000, supposedly the next generation BlackBerry Device.
According to BGR, the BlackBerry 9000 will be the first BlackBerry to have a touch screen, HSDPA 3G, and a 600 MHz processor and won’t be out until sometime next year.
We know that the picture of the BlackBerry 9000 we are showing in this post is not the same as BGR’s artist rendition. We, however, like it more and since they are both fake, what difference really does it make.
This is a much better photoshop job then the one on Boy genius report. I would have thought this was real if you wouldn’t have said anything.
It kind of looks like my old 7250.
Go onto BB Forums and say that (touchscreen) and at least a dozen people will want to string you up by your toes. I have never seen a bigger group of narrow minded, dinosaurs in all my life.
Remember how many people were anti-digital camera before the BlackBerry Pearl came out.
Now, the only folks that don’t want it are government contractors.
Why are people all up in arms over the possibilty of a soft-keyboard BB? The introduction of such a device does not necessarily mean that RIM will eliminate the “hard” version.
They still make BBs with and without cameras. They still make BBs with and without Suretype. Why do folks automatically assume RIM won’t give us the same opton with hard- and soft-keyboards?
And frankly, having tapped out a fair share of messages on the iPhone, it ain’t that bad, folks.
I have to agree with REV. Typing on the iPhone isn’t really all that bad after you get used to it after about a week.
It is not as good as a QWERTY keyboard or even SureType, however, it is not bad if you aren’t constantly pounding out long emails.
gquaglia
It’s the same closed minded peep’s who were screaming blasphemy when others saw how the BB was slipping behind the rest of the crowd in innovation and dared to mention the word Camera and Blackberry in the same post.
REV and Robb,
Glad you guys brought up the revolutionary iPhone. Ever since it’s introduction almost a year ago it has shaken up even the top tier device designers such as Nokia and RIM, and is the reason why RIM is at least experimenting with something like the BB9000.
Steve Jobs:
“the most advanced phones are called smartphones. They typically involve a phone, have plastic little keyboards on them, the problem is they’re not so smart and they’re not so easy to use.
“The problem is really in the bottom 40% — keyboards that are there whether you need them or not. They have control buttons that are fixed in plastic. Every app wants a different button. You can’t add new buttons. How do you solve this problem? We solved this problem — we solved it in computers 20 years ago. A bitmap screen that can display anything we want — with a pointing device.”
“So how are we going to take this to a mobile device? Get rid of all the buttons, and just make a giant screen. So how are we going to communicate? We’re going to use a stylus — no. Who wants a stylus?? Yuck!”
“So let’s not use a stylus, we’re going to use the best pointing device in the world — our fingers.”
With those words (and many years of R&D) Apple introduced the world to the next generation of UI. One thing smart, in the know consumers should know is never doubt Apple’s innovations.
Whats still rather amazing is where were the top tier? Where were all the wireless device manufactures and how come things were so far behind that Apple with version 1 of the iPhone not only put them all to shame, but put out the iPhone which is a generation ahead of anything else out there?
Sure hope who ever is the photoshop genius gives RIM a little credit and gets rid of those windoz like buttons at the bottom of the pictured “BB9000” there is no need for buttons like those.
I for one do not think an iphone like keyboard will ever exist on a RIM Blackberry! I’m all for new stuff, but I owned an iphone for a little while and have to say that it was tough knockin out medium to long emails! And let’s get series guys, Blackberrys are mostly an email device, everything else is secondary. Rim will put something real great together in the Lab, but most likely they will stick to the Curve, 8700 type of keyboard and not try to reinvent the virtual keyboard!
I just don’t know about an all touchscreen BB. The problem with any device like that put out by anyone is that it inevitably is compared to the iPhone, and let’s face it, no one can compete with Apple for that type of user experience. Jobs is right; in that type of device, Apple is years ahead; they have the software and design and multimedia experience that others cannot acquire easily or quickly to make up that deficit.
Right now the BB has its own unique selling proposition: the best in class email experience with the best in class keyboard. If someone wants the full touchscreen experience with all the bells and whistles, there is no reason to not go with Apple.
Competitors are going to keep coming out with “iPhone killers” and they will fare just as well as all of the “iPod killers.”
Granted, if such a device surfaces, I do believe RIM will still offer models with keyboards.
Personally, I prefer the keyboard. Tried the IPhone keyboard and while innovative, it’s not for me. I agree, RIMM will most likely continue making products with keyboards.
Am I the only BB user who is fed up reading about the Apple iPhone on BlackBerry forums/websites? A CrackBerry can only take so much.
It’s spoiling the experience about reading all the information relating to BBs. (I’m mad as hell and can’t take it anymore!!)
Am waiting with baited breath for RIM to release the new BB models so please no more posts on the iPhone.

Howdy? More touchscreen huh!! just must try it first whether it’s better than iPhone or not. But the look is not bad.
Best regards
🙂
Iphone is really an ipod with a super cool ui, that also happens to make calls, surf the web, and send emails. it is a casual device, a toy if you will. It is for play, for commuting, for casual emailers and hip people on the go. BB is a serious phone and email machine. This is why they are so often business devices. Gov’ts and businesses rely on them heavily. It is secure. It is about emails and telephone calls primarily. It does what it does the best. You cannot type long emails on an iphone regularly, you will want to kill yourself. They are not in the same class. It is like comparing a motorcycle to a minivan. Yeah you can do wheelies on a motorcycle, but you can’t carry passengers, dont want to get caught in the rain, etc. Apples and oranges.
Iphone as currently constructed does not appeal to me in the least. I admire Apple’s design team and their ability to promote cultishness around their admittedly cool and functional products. But just as the ipod isnt the best mp3 player (though it is among them) the iphone isnt the best smartphone, whoever, in this case, it is not among them. I dont know many BB owners rushing out to buy an iphone and there is a reason for that: iphone doesnt deliver what a BB user wants. theres not even mms or chat on the iphone!! how retarded is that?
Rim ought to explore the touchscreen and see if there are businesses and users in general interested in it (treo proves there are) and try to tap into that. also try to tap into the purely consumer market which iphone serves due to its overall coolness.
This is similar to personal preferences in Remote controls for Home Theater/TV, etc. Some like Touch, Some like hard Buttons, and there are devices with both Soft touch buttons and hard buttons combined.
I for one like the hybrids…hard buttons for the often used stuff and soft ones for occasional use.
That aside, BB is awfully quick and effective just the way it is…like a quick draw gun.
How about a BB with a touch screen and a real keyboard. Just take the curve and add a touch screen to it.
how much? i love it.
hey i think its boring. it needs alittle more PIZEEEEZZAAZZZ.
you know what i mean :] okay well hear are my toughts. it needs more color… sparkles…. like a picture of me on the back!! umm anymore questions email me <33
ohihh yeah vote for me ..
for president
This picture is hillarious … look at the writing of the left and right key … someone photoshopped his old 7730 and cut and stretched a few areas.
if I had nothing to do, I’d release a picture of a Blackberry 10000 … maybe a mix of the Bold an iphone and HD television 🙂
