Back in May of last year we wrote a post asking how long will it take for Verizon to release the BlackBerry Curve, and, 462 comments later, the conversation on that post is going as strong as ever.
There are rumors floating around that Verizon may come with the CDMA BlackBerry Curve as soon as the end of this month, however, I am still going with some right around WES, about a month later.
I know many RIMarkable readers just don’t understand why Verizon subscribers would stick with a company that doesn’t offer the phones that they want up to a year after they come out on GSM networks in some cases. The comments, however, in this particular post, which seem to have been picking up steam as of late, give some insight intto the minds of Verizon subscribers who are upset that they can’t get the BlackBerry Curve, but, rely on Verizon’s network so much that they don’t feel they can switch, or, in some cases, switch back after leaving to get the GSM Curve.
I am not saying that they are right or wrong, misguided or misinformed. I am saying that I understand. As millions of Verizon subscribers believe, I think that Verizon has the best network out there and that it is so much better than the competitions that we are willing to forgo new devices on GSM carriers. Verizon, however, needs to take note. I also believe that many of these “loyal” Verizon subscribers would switch in a heartbeat to a GSM carrier the moment they feel like the GSM networks have the network coverage and speed of Verizon’s network.
It’s a dangerous game you play Verizon. If T-Mobile or AT&T upgrades their networks to 3G everywhere and fill in the coverage gaps that they are notorious for having before you either move to LTE or convince manufactures to come out with CDMA devices at a faster pace, you could see your earnings shrink faster than Sprints.

Hellno, just stop commenting. As someone who is trying to find out relevant info on the release of the curve, I find you add nothing to this thread, instead detracting from it.
I’m pretty sure he hasn’t commented on this thread since 3/7. Not that I’m defending him in any way… from what I understand it’s best to just ignore him…
GBVZ is a homo.
What does that stand for anyways? Gays Bi-s for Verizon?
Loser.
This is old news, but at least VZW has the Curve in their inventory system now, even if it does show 0 in stock. That pretty much means we won’t be waiting much longer at all.
@ LP
where did you see that they had it in their inventory system? Could I trouble you for a link?

Gosh, I bet you thought of that lame and completely unnecessary comeback for hours.
I don’t even think this is ‘hellno’ anyway. The post was too short and was lacking in his key phrases such as “FUD, IGNORANCE, GRANSTANDING, TRUTH, FACTS…etc.
Just spoke to a Verizon store here in NJ. He told me that he hasn’t gotten any emails or announcements yet regarding the Curve.
He said that they usually get an email ahead of time regarding the launch of a new phone.
I am hoping that they release it soon. I am considering ATT if verizon does not release it by next week.
haha… I was just going to let that lame hellno post go… come to think of it NV, it was very uncharacteristic of hellno. Do we have a phantom hellno out there?
*insert “ooooooo” in ghostlike voice here*
@ GBVZ,
Well, personally, I had people I know at VZW look it up in the system. Others have as well. Here is the thread:

Just spoke with my rep in ATL who says they are expecting early to mid-May. Unless, of course, there are unanticipated problems during the testing phase. . .
Does anyone here actually like Howard Forum? I find it very cluttered and somewhat annoying how you navigate through out it. Granted the information is some what more genuine than most forums due to the commitment of the posters, but overall I find it non-user friendly.
I’m a member at Howard forum…or ‘HoFo’ as they call it. I think it’s broken down quite nicely since theres a section for everything, it makes it a little easier to go straight to an area of interest. I guess it seems cluttered because there’s so many threads and information/questions. It’s a very large forum, so it definitely takes some getting used to. I’m pretty new there as far as posting goes, but I’ve looked around ever there to get some information from time to time.
I guess it just depends on what you’re used to. I like this forum too, it’s just set up differently. I think it just takes some getting used to, like I said. it is a little overwhelming though.
@ PB,
I love HoFo. I don’t find it cluttered at all. In fact, I find it extremely easy to navigate through. Once you get used to the site, everything is right in front of you. It may SEEM cluttered because of the vast amount of info posted, but everything is categorized, especially so in the VZW forums.
Moreover, the info there is light years better and more solid than just about any other forum and many of the people that post on there are the ones who provide info to BGR, Engadget, etc.
Also, there are mods there that cut off tools like “hellno” from spewing his rhetoric over and over and over again and that also are very good at keeping threads on track.
… and I might add that if “hellno” wishes to keep spewing, on HoFo there are specific threads made for that purpose. Pretty much just general bitch-fest type threads.

I also heard from a Verizon rep that Curve is coming out next month (April). The 8830 keyboard was totally unmanageable…
The only reason I did not switch from VZW to ATT wireless is because with ATT, their insurance program won’t cover the Curve. Verizon’s insurance program has not limited its coverage on Blackberry models in the past. So, I am really hoping they come out with this device soon. The Pearl is nice, but the screen is a bit too small for my eyes.
Verizon Rep told me this morning that the curve is coming out in April. He say’s he has been holding off from buying the current ones too and cant wait for the curve next month.
Hello everyone, I’ve been tracking the comments here for a while. I just got a flier in the mail from VZW about a one-time-only offer to upgrade my normal phone to a BB Pearl ’til the end of the month. Thus, I doubt they’re releasing the Curve before that offer ends. They’re probably trying to clear their inventory to reduce loss.
eager do you still have that email by any chance? I just upgraded last Saturday to the Pearl, and didn’t get any real discounts even though its my first new phone in 25 months…typical Verizon. If you still check out this forum could you please let me know and possibly forward that email to me? Thanks!
I am so close to switching to AT&T. Verizon has the worst devices out there. One set of releases per year is not enough now-a-days. Where the hell is the Curve???
Just visited a Verizon store. The rep told me that they are releasing the curve in April. I already got 8830. Can’t wait for the curve.
Like many, I was like a deer trapped in Verizon’s headlights. Fortunately, I tried AT&T in a heads up comparison. After being in seven cities in six states, it’s VZW 8.2, AT&T 8.0 on a scale of 1-10. So guess what? Good bye VZW! Putting up with your quiet arrogance is no longer worth 0.2. You are fired. CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!?!
I just spoke with Verizon CS, and they said the phone will be out this Friday, May 9th.
Already got my phone in the mail today, activated, love it!!! Killer phone!
