The Verizon BlackBerry Curve Is Officially Here!
CITA Wireless starts up in Las Vegas tomorrow and Verizon was first in line to make one of several pre-show handset announcements.
You’ve got to give it to Verizon on this one. They pretty much kept the release of the BlackBerry Curve 8330 under wraps. Most people thought that it would come out announce before the Sprint version, however, only few thought that it would come out be announced in March.
The announcement of the BlackBerry Curve 8330 will, unless RIM announces a BlackBerry with a touch-screen, will dominate the BlackBerry news until WES. I am going to try to hold off until then on getting one of these, hoping that that Verizon will announce it in black. I don’t know, however, if I am going to be able to wait that long.

NV,
Not a problem at all and I appreciate you clearing that up for me! I am going to attempt to preorder mine starting April 30th up until the 5th, so we’ll see how it goes.
Once it’s ordered, I’ll let everyone know.
Thanks,
Jay C.
why are people obsessing over this BB. your too caught up in the material word. its nice to have one but when your blogging and acting like a kid in a candy store, its something else. there is more important things than physical possessions. read a book, go to the beach, travel…
aaron
you should be nice. if we, as hardworking adults, want to sit up on the computer and act like children over a material possession thats’s our right. I’m sure there’s something that you obsess over. That book you mentioned, when your favorite author comes out and you go to a store and they’ve sold out, you go to another store until you find it. You want what you want when you want it. Everyone obsesses over something and if we chose to do so over a phone, it’s our prerrogative. Maybe we want this BB so that we can receive email whereever we are notification when our favorite author releases a book? Or maybe we want this BB so that we can find the beach with the provided GPS? Or perhaps we want it so that we can have a sense of normalcy when we do travel?
Folks like you kill me. Always trying to rain on someone else’s parade. We’re not bothering anyone in here, we’re just sharing information and talking about what we want. If you too are not concerned about when Sprint or Verizon or whoever will have the phone, DON’T READ THE BLOG. If you don’t want to listen to us whining, DON’T READ THE BLOG.
aaron,
What are you doing here then? Makes no sense for you to be posting on a blog about BBs, saying that we’re ridiculous for posting on a blog about a BB. I can only speak for myself, but I’m not “obsessing” over the phone. I’ve been patiently waiting for it for quite some time. So what? I’m not losing sleep because of it. I just check in from time to time to get some useful information, when I can.
And FYI. I do read books, lots of them. On average, about 3 a week. I also have a full time job, a college education with a Master’s degree to follow shortly. I have traveled and will continue to do so. Stop being so pretentious and assuming you know anything about anyone who posts here.
For someone as smart as yourself (LOLZ), who apparently reads a lot and isn’t obsessed with the “material WORD”, maybe you should re-read your posts before hitting submit, so you can make sure that you spell “world” instead of “word”.
Why do you even have a computer? Isn’t that an unnecessary possesion? I mean, who needs a computer or a phone, when they get to hang out on the beach and read books all day like you?
A bit harsh? Maybe. See what happens when people assume they know who other people are on an internet forum?
I’ll let you get back to working on your tan, and passing judgment. Have a nice day!
NV,
re: aaron, well done lad, well done! LOL!
I am obsessed. My cell phone is broken and I am trying to wait for the Curve. Once I have it, I will no longer be obsessed. BTW…I read books too. Me like words.
Khadijah,
No “lad” here. Just a clever girl…
Oh Lord, my bad! LOL!
Hi guys it’s me again. Just wanted to stop by and say hello to my wonderful blackberry friends. Yesterday was hot and the beach was fun. My tan is looking pretty good. It’s funny that I was able to push your buttons a little. I was not even trying too. Harsh? Nah! I never said you were ridiculous for posting blogs about bbs, but thanks for putting words in my mouth. For you to say I’m am “pretentious” and I “assume” is very funny because I think that is exactly what you just did. But nice try on trying to burn me. It’s my right and “prerogative” to do what I did, but thank you for casting the first stone. You missed. Oh and before you try to burn me about “word”, you should first use spell check so you don’t type, “Isn’t that an unnecessary possesion? ” I believe it is “possession.” I have a broken hand, what’s your excuse? Nice talking to you bb tag teamers. Someone is texting me, got to go…But I really am waiting on the curve from Verizon…Wink Wink…
“For you to say I’m am “pretentious” and I “assume” is very funny because I think that is exactly what you just did”
—Yes. I know that. It was the whole point of my post to do what you did (assume), just to show how stupid it is…get it?
“But nice try on trying to burn me”
—Well thanks for the praise, but I wasn’t trying to “burn” you. I was stating my opinion and responding to your previous post.
“I have a broken hand, what’s your excuse?”
—Yes, I have a broken hand too.
LOLZ!
aaron, no one was trying to “burn” you. It’s obvious that all those long days on the beach are burning you and your brain both!
I’m ignoring anything further posted by you – I can spend that time obsessing about getting my BB!
NV, your cool, I like you. We made up and have an understanding. Hope your hand heals soon.
khadijah, lame…
Aaron,
I can’t resist. Think you’re so smart? READ (on the beach, of course) more and maybe your vocabulary will benefit. When referring to someone else’s ownership, it’s “YOUR”. When referring to someone else’s state, it’s YOU’RE, as in YOU ARE. Probably from too much texting? Keep trying Aaron. Btw, good luck on getting your BB. LOL!
khad, looks like now instead of obsessing about bbs, “YOUR” obsessing about ME! i know you will be waiting all day for me to reply to you. you keep trying to clown me with “beach” remarks, is that all you can talk about.
khad lad, “YOU’RE” still lame…
Blah, blah, blah! The real problem here is that the Curve release date was pushed back to Mother’s Day!
Not officially Terry, but it is a possibility.
May 9th in hollywood
Just in Curve will be released online May 9th and in Stores May 12.
Info is showing up on info manager now. Check out thread at Howard Forums. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1333302&page=142&pp=15
Is this Date of the 9th Confirmed? Two days ago it was the 5th. I’m hearing different stories.
Every site it (i.e. howard forums, phone arena, etc) are citing 9th online and 12th in stores. So seems pretty legit to me. I have a source that said they were given the info at the store yesterday also.
FYI I called Verizon Customer Service and the rep confirmed it would be available through online and telesales on the 9th and in the stores on the 12th. It is going for $319 for New 2 Year Contract with $50 mail in rebate and $100 Advance Device Credit.
If you buy it online, does it ship out the same day? Would it better to wait it out and buy it in the stores?
I pre ordered my Verizon Curve 8330 today. $169 after rebates.
Hooray!
Aaron – HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!?!?!?!?
Pri, what’s the “advance device credit” thing about?
Aaron, who’d you pre-order from? Verizon directly? Was it the same $319, with $100 advance device credit and $50 MIR?
Aaron – I did the same thing for the same price. I can’t wait until mine arrives on Monday!
Well, after taking part in this blog, and being told something like I would not be getting a Curve 8330 by another blogger; I then started reading all blogs, visiting Verizon’s website, and leaving my contact info on several websites for updates regarding the 8330. A few days ago a got a call from a Verizon rep and we hit it off over the phone. She then emailed me today and we set everything up. It took something I read about on another blog, which is “persistence”, to pull this off. Thank you. Once we all get one, we should totally trade numbers. =)
I’ve called FOUR times today, each time I’ve been told they do not have the phone to sell yet. Once I was told may 9th online. Stopped in a store and they don’t even have a release date.
For those who have successfully ordered their Curve via phone, care to share that number with the rest of the class? Thanks.
Odered mine online this morning!! Cost just over $100
Rich, you are one of the lucky ones apparently.
I chatted online with a customer service rep via their live help feature, and the phone WAS available this morning and people did purchase it. But, it has since taken down and will be available for purchase on May 9.
Verzion…you tease.
here’s how I did it. Log into your online account, go to your phone/upgrade phone. That is where you will find the curve. I can’t find it without logging in. Also, from the VZW home page, search for “curve” and you will find the phone price/details. Good Luck!!
Thanks for the advice Rich. I tried that as well actually…what happens is when I click “buy,” I am looped back to the My Account page.
I hear B2B orders are good to go.

It you sign up for an unlimited Blackberry package $30.00 a month for web and email or $45.00 a month to be on the Blackberry Enterprise Server. I ordered mine and they signed me up for the $45 I am gonna call customer service and have them change it to the $30.00 a month. They have a $24.99 package but it’s not unlimited so you could rack up a hefty bill real quick.
Pri are you sure you were you addressing me?

Pri, what’s the “advance device credit” thing about?
I don’t know is this you?
I’m getting mine on Friday n for only $69.99 with a free car charger thrown in!! I got a deal with the $119.99 plus a mail-in rebate of $50. I’m getting it thru my company so on b2b order type thing.
I ordered mine on the same promotion as above, but did not get car charger. The phone is now available on verizonwireless.com, or in stores on May 12th. Mine will be delivered tomorrow.
Advance Device Credit is if you are not quite available for your “new every two”.
NV, Aaron, Pri, did you all get it yet?
