We Are Giving The Bolt BlackBerry Browser The Once Over

by Robb Dunewood on February 3, 2009 · 8 comments

BoltThanks to BlackBerry Cool who has unlimited downloads of the closed Beta, we are giving the Bolt Mobile Web Browser the once over.

I’ve only had Bolt installed for a few minutes, however, it appears to be a heck of a lot quicker than Opera.  So  far  I really like it.

You can download Bolt here.  Use berrycool as your referral code.

Happy Browsing…

I have Bolt and Opera.
I am not sure if one is faster
than the other. They both have
their good points.

Yeah. Faster than Opera, but compared to the BB browser the interface stinks.
Simple things like hitting the back button to go back a page or hitting return to enter text aren’t there. And forget about magnification, its a pain

Bolt Update V 0.83 I downloaded this update from the old V 0.73 for the 8330 Curve on Verizon and it works great except for You Tube which does not play and gives a java error. All the pages load just like you would view them on a PC not in a mobile view. Still playing with it. Still not happy with trackball movement but it is better than the first release.

I had bolt installed for a little while, and I found that it slowed down my blackberry’s performance significantly, took up memory and deleted my text messages. Uninstalling it fixed the problem. It’s a beta, so beware.

Holy smokes… I didn’t realize my phone could load pages that quick. Can’t wait till they optimize this for the 95xx.

If you go to the youmail site and enter your phone number it will tell you if your network is supported, it doesn’t support GSM in Canada.
