Via the Inside BlackBerry for Business Blog, Research in Motion has announced the expansion of their social media presence with the launch of their first official LinkedIn community, the BlackBerry for Business group…
This community is an information and discussion hub for business users and decision makers. It’s a great venue to contribute best practices, advice, case studies and general knowledge as it relates to the BlackBerry platform in your industry. There will also be a good volume of discussion around the latest trends in mobility, computing and IT solutions.
You can join the BlackBerry for Business group on LinkedIn here, and, if you don’t already have LinkedIn for BlackBerry installed on your device, you can pick it up OTA here.
LinkedIn for BlackBerry has been updated to version 1.5.0.8 new with support for BlackBerry 6. The new version also includes a redesigned user profile layout:
Viewing member profiles is the #1 activity users do today in the application. We’ve re-designed the profile completely to make it easier to see and interact with all the information on it, while also adding two new features. We’ve been asked by many users for the ability to view the connections of the people they are connected to, as well as to see who they have in common with people on the site. Those new features are now available right at the top of the profile.
LinkedIn for BlackBerry is a free BlackBerry download and is available on BlackBerry App World. You can also download it OTA by http://m.linkedin.com/blackberry/download from your device’s BlackBerry Browser…
I don’t know that I would call LinkedIn my favorite social network, however, it is certainly the most useful and it just got little better. LinkedIn for BlackBerry version 1.2 has been released and it significantly improves performance as well as fixes other bugs.
We’ve just released an update focused on performance, battery life and resolving several issues our users were seeing with downloading connections. We made a number of changes to how we handle merging your address book with the BlackBerry Contacts application and other changes that should significantly reduce the battery life issues some users have reported.
You can download LinkedIn for BlackBerry 1.2 from http://m.linkedin.com/blackberry/download or pick it up on BlackBerry App World.
One of the most highly anticipated BlackBerry application releases earlier this year was LinkedIn for BlackBerry. Unfortunately for BlackBerry Storm and BlackBerry Pearl users, LinkedIn for BlackBerry, when initially released back in March of this year, was not available on those particular devices. LinkedIn for BlackBerry has been updated to version 1.1, and, needless to say, now has support for the BlackBerry Storm and the BlackBerry Curve…
Linkedin for BlackBerry 1.1 features include:
- Added support for BlackBerry Storm and BlackBerry Pearl
- Enhanced profile updates
- Improved font support
- Improved Contacts integration
You can pick up LinkedIn for BlackBerry over on BlackBerry App World or download it OTA directly to your device at the link below.

LinkedIn for BlackBerry was officially released just about a week ago and the first update, version 1.0.1, is now available. Unfortunately this update doesn’t bring BlackBerry Storm compatibility, however, it does correct some of the issues experienced when logging in over Wi-Fi and BIS.
LinkedIn for BlackBerry is a free BlackBerry download and you can pick it up at the link below…

According to the latest edition of the BlackBerry Connection newsletter, both Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones and LinkedIn for BlackBerry are almost here.
Get ready because two of your favorite business apps will arrive in BlackBerry App World™ soon. The first is the Twitter® for BlackBerry® smartphones app. Mentions, search, direct messaging, retweeting, following—it will all be packed into this free app from Research in Motion.
The second is the highly anticipated LinkedIn for BlackBerry app. Look up profiles, send messages right from your Messages folder, check network updates, and see profile photos in your Contacts—everything you need to become a mobile networking machine.
All that I can say is it is about frigging time…
There is no question that we BlackBerry users are at a disadvantage when it comes applications as compared to users of other smartphone platforms like the iPhone and Android. The list of reasons that this is the case is long and, at the end of the day, RIM has simply got to do better when it comes to BlackBerry applications. There are, however, several BlackBerry applications that should have been developed and released a long time ago, and, I personally am just plain tired of waiting on them…
