Places has been added to Google Maps. Places allow you to locate restaurants, coffee, ATM, Gas Stations, and many other thing near you. It is not like you could not do this today with the generic search, but this does make Google Maps more like the traditional mapping software users are familiar with. This release also includes bug fixes. The updater a m.google.com has not updated for 4.4 so use the link below if you want to update

Google Maps for Mobile has been updated to version 4.2.0. The new version now includes Biking Direcctions, Sharing, and New Search results. Google Maps is a free BlackBerry download that you can pick up by pointing your device’s BlackBerry Browser to http://m.google.com/maps.

Google Maps for BlackBerry has been updated to version 4.0.2. As usual, no release notes, however, we don’t think that this is major update over 4.0.1.

Google put out a new version of Google Maps today… version 3.02, and, as usual, no release notes, so imagine my surprise when I learned that Google Maps 3.02 supports GPS on the BlackBerry Storm.
Word on the street is that GPS still doesn’t work on older BlackBerry devices, however, if you have a BlackBerry Storm, I strongly recommend getting the latest version of Google Maps. It is way better BlackBerry Maps.

One of the most popular posts that we have here on RIMarkable is 5 Must Have Free BlackBerry Downloads which was written almost two years ago back in June of 2006. Since so many visitors come to that particular post we’ve decided to update it 2008 style.
