BlueBox for BlackBerry PlayBook

BlueBox for BlackBerry PlayBook, a third party DropBox client for the BlackBerry PlayBook has been updated to version 1.2 and to say that the application has been completely overhauled would be a bit of an understatement.  I am a huge fan DropBox, a cloud based file storage, synchronization, and sharing service that gives you 2GB of online storage for free.  We are still waiting on an official DrobBox for BlackBerry application to be released, but, in the meantime BlueBox for BlackBerry PlayBook v1.2 is one heck of an alternative.

Regardless of if you have a BlackBerry PlayBook or not, you should sign up a free DropBox account.  If you do have a PlayBook however, BlueBox for BlackBerry PlayBook is one must download application…

DropBox for BlackBerry

DropBox, a cloud based file hosting and sharing service, which launched DropBox for BlackBerry back in September, has been updated to version 1.0.37 includes quite a few bug fixes including:

  • saving non-ascii texts results in garbled text
  • handling of edge cases when running out of space on sd card and in device memory
  • open-edit-upload usecase wasn’t working for devices with encryption enabled
  • share link freezes for some users
  • open-edit-upload usecase fails for files with non-ascii filenames
  • “would you like to allow logging” dialog shouldn’t appear on first launch
  • on rotatable devices, in image gallery, the displayed/cached image is smaller than screen size (shouldn’t happen)
  • app should ask for permissions in advance on first launch
  • app should support multiple third-party app associations for a given file type (e.g multiple pdf viewers)
  • music/video stops when screen fades out
  • user gets a “not enough room to write file” message when trying to open a file that’s already open in docs2go

DropBox for BlackBerry

DropBox, which first announced that it was coming to the BlackBerry back in May and went into a limited beta on the BlackBerry in July, has been officially released.  I personally am a huge fan of DropBox, and, with the official release of DropBox for BlackBerry, have a DropBox client installed on every smartphone, netbook, laptop, and desktop that I own.  DropBox is the best solution that I’ve ever used for keeping data synchronized between multiple machines and the best part…  DropBox is Free!

Dropbox for BlackBerry

We just got word that Dropbox for BlackBerry has been updated to beta 5 and 1000 test slots have been opened into the closed beta.  Dropbox is a cloud based file synchronization service that allows you to keep files synchronized between computers, the web, and various smartphones.

A post over on the Dropbox forums letting beta testers know that Dropbox for BlackBerry beta 5 is now available and that 1000 new test slots have been opened went up about 8 hours before this post, so, act fast if you want to try to get in.  I just got into the beta at about 10:30 a.m. EST, but, have no idea how many slots are left.

Even if you can’t get into the Dropbox for Blackberry beta, I highly recommend Dropbox to anyone that may ever need to access files on more than one computer.  You must  have a Dropbox account before you can get into the Dropbox for BlackBerry beta, so, why not give it a shot.  Dropbox is free, so, you definitely can’t beat the price.

Dropbox for BlackBerry

Dropbox, a file synchronization and sharing application that allows you to install on multiple computers and many smartphones, has gone into a limited beta on the BlackBerry.  Unfortunately, the Dropbox for BlackBerry beta is currently closed to new participants, however, I am hoping that they open it up to more beta tester or that the software is soon to be released to the masses.

I personally use Dropbox and am pleased and excited that Dropbox for BlackBerry is on the horizon.  It is currently installed on every one of my computers and my Droid Incredible.  Even the the Dropbox for BlackBerry beta is currently closed, I recommend that anyone who doesn’t already use Dropbox, give Dropbox a try.

Dropbox for BlackBerry

Dropbox, a really cool cloud based file hosting and sharing application will soon be available on the BlackBerry.  If you aren’t familiar with Dropbox, they have a video that explains on over on the Dropbox website, however, to make a short story a little longer, Dropbox is essentially a virtual folder that automatically syncs files dropped into it across multiple computers.

We don’t have a specific release date for when Dropbox for BlackBerry will become available but you can currently set up Dropbox on your Windows, Mac, or Linux computers, as well as the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
