executor keychainRemember the Executor keychain from back in the day?  You know, the one that made all those cool sound effects like sirens, machine guns, phasers and more?  I believe it was 8 sound effects in all.  I spent many an afternoon in recess detention because I couldn’t resist shooting and dropping bombs on my 6th grade math teacher Mrs. Richardson.

Well,  genuises at Generation Media Group, have come out with a superdee duperdee way to cross an Executor keychain with a  Blackberry and have come out with bbExecutor, arguably the best BlackBerry application ever developed…

that crosses an Executor keychain with a BlackBerry.

Free BlackBerry Games

We have a little saying around here that the only thing better than a good BlackBerry game is a good FREE BlackBerry game.  If you have an older model BlackBerry (not a Pearl Flip, Bold, Curve 8900, or Storm) you can download 3 free BlackBerry Games from bPlay.

The games are:

  • Medieval Kings Chess II
  • Disco Bowling
  • Proteus (think Asteroids)

I’ve played all three games, and, usually games of this quality come with a price tag.  Trust me when I tell you that they are worth the time it takes to download them.

You can download all 3 free BlackBerry games OTA from this link http://www.bplay.com/offer/UKOL3/

Happy gaming old school BlackBerry users…

Check Out Nintaii On The BlackBerry Storm

by Robb Dunewood on November 30, 2008 · 7 comments

We talked about Nintaii right before it won best game in the BlackBerry Partner’s Fund Developer Challenge.  There is a new version out and it takes advantage of the BlackBerry Storms accelerometer.

I can’t wait to see what other types of games start coming out for the the Storm…

We’re getting close. The most innovative BlackBerry to date, the BlackBerry Storm, is coming out within the next month. I am sure that the Storm will do all the BlackBerry stuff that we are used to on a BlackBerry, however, the form factor, the touchscreen, the accelerometer, etc., will allow it to do some things that no BlackBerry before it has ever been able to do.

An excellent way to truly the power and performance of many computing devices is to put a good game on them that will really tax the system. I don’t hide the fact that I am not a big fan of the iPhone as a business device, however, you’ve got to give the iPhone props when it comes to playing games.

Will the BlackBerry Storm be able to play some of the types of games that you see coming out on the iPhone? Does it have enough horsepower to move beyond the card and puzzle type games that you see so many of and on to so some of the more graphically and processor games?

Bubble Popper: Free BlackBerry Game From AIM

by Robb Dunewood on June 3, 2008 · 9 comments

Stefan from AIM Productions just sent me a press release stating that AIM has just launched their first batch of BlackBerry Games including the Free BlackBerry Game Bubble Popper.

The point of the game is simple: remove bubbles from the grid by double-clicking groups of two or more adjacent, like-colored bubbles. The longer your bubble chains are, the more points you score.

In addition to the free Blackberry game, Bubble Popper, AIM has released 3 other titles which, for a limited time, you can get a 30% discount on through ClickGamer.

To get the 30% discount just enter in the promotion code berry007 at checkout.

I just read a press release that brought back some fond memories from back in my Windows Mobile using days. Astraware, developer of some really cool games for Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian, and even the PC, has announced that it is entering the BlackBerry gaming scene.

Astraware will first come out with Platypus sometime between the beginning of Q3 and August 31st shortly to be followed up by Astraware classics like Astraware Solitaire, Astraware Sudoku, Astraware Casino, and Astraware Boardgames in Q4. I personally own each of these along with about 40 more on a Windows Mobile device that I still use from time to time.

Sudoku Is Free Again

by Robb Dunewood on March 24, 2008 · 7 comments

Sudoku has got to be one of my all time favorite free BlackBerry Games and it just so happens to be available as a free BlackBerry download once again. Via your device’s BlackBerry Browser, head on over to mobile.BlackBerry.com. Under Fun & Games select Games >Free Games, accept the agreement, and Sudoku will be the 4th game listed.
