BlackBerry Messenger has been updated to v6.0.1 and, if not already, will soon be available for download in BlackBerry App World.
BlackBerry Messenger 6.0.1 features include:
- Explore BBM-connected Apps – BBM users will now be able to pull up “Explore BBM-connected Apps” from a menu in the BBM Contacts screen, which starts a BlackBerry App World storefront search for “BBM” by redirecting users to a list of up to 25 of the most popular BBM-connected apps available.
- Sharing App Content with Your BBM Contacts is Easier – Users can share app-specific content with BBM contacts regardless of whether the contact has the app installed.
- Include BBM v5.0 users in application invites – Now users can now invite BBM v5.0 & BBM v6.0 contacts to join in the fun and share BBM-connected app experiences.
One of the things that I’ve liked about the BlackBerry PlayBook since day one is its full support of Flash, allowing you to use sites like SpeedTest.net to check the speed of your wireless internet connection. Many PlayBook owners, however, have been waiting for a dedicated application, and, we are happy to report that Speedtest HD for BlackBerry PlayBook is now available in BlackBerry App World as a free download.

After only just a few days of testing in BlackBerry Beta Zone, BlackBerry App World v3.0.1.29 is now available and ready for download. We haven’t seen a change log but it looks like BlackBerry App World v3.0.1.29 just contains bug fixes…

Research in Motion commissioned UK based jobs search site, All The Top Bananas, to build an internal job postings and search app for the BlackBerry named Jobs in Motion. This news by itself is really no news at all. What was, “unexpected”, to say the least, is that All The Top Bananas also built a version of Jobs in Motion for Android devices and it is available in Android Market. I’ve got to admit… I didn’t see this one coming.

Wikitude for BlackBerry, the BBM integrated augmented reality browser, has been updated to v6.0.11. Along with support for the new BlackBerry 9790 and 9380, Wikitude for BlackBerry includes the following features:
- Landscape mode support in cam view for Torch 9810, 9850, 9860.
- Routing to POI when clicking on address in POI detail screen
- Location update more accurate in cam view while moving
- Bug fix for privacy setting ‘Contacts’ for BBM chat

With the release of BlackBerry App World 3.0 Research in Motion updated the BlackBerry App World home page, and, for a brief time, a mock-up of BlackBerry Messenger for the BlackBerry PlayBook was featured. The BlackBerry Messenger for BlackBerry PlayBook mock-up has been removed, but, it does make us wonder if BBM for the PlayBook is coming sooner rather than later…
