BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Now Available On SunCom

by Robb Dunewood on December 19, 2007 · 5 comments

The Wi-Fi bearing BlackBerry Pearl 8120, you know, the one supposed to make it’s U.S. debut on T-Mobile Feb. 18th, actually just came out on SunCom, which just happened to be bought by T-Mobile the other day.

There is no doubt that T-Mobile knew that SunCom was going to release the 8120 before them. “How could T-Mobile let that happen?”, you might ask. Well, IntoMobile has a great theory on that…

The parent company (T-Mobile) still has boatloads of current-generation BlackBerry 8100 Pearl inventory to clear out before they launch the WiFi-enabled version.

Anywho… If you live on one of a few southern states, Peurto Rico, or the Virgin Islands and you want to get your hands on the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 before mid February, give SunCom a call.

Word on the street is that the Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry Pearl 8120 will be available from T-Mobile on Feb. 18th. The Pearl 2, as the 8120 has often been referred too, will sport an improved trackball, redesigned keyboard, and external memory card slot, like it’s CDMA cousin, the BlackBerry Pearl 8130.

The first T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl 8120 will be gray and there is no indication as to when T-Mobile will offer the device in all of the colors you can currently get the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 in.

BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Detailed By The FCC

by Robb Dunewood on November 20, 2007 · 14 comments

It shouldn’t be too much longer before the Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry Pearl 8120 should be released in the United States. The FCC has recently posted documents with the details of of the quad-band GSM/EDGE version of the BlackBerry Pearl 8130.

We’re guessing that the Blackberry Pearl 8120 will first appear on T-Mobile because the device has a UMA client which currently is only support by T-Mobile’s HotSpot@Home Service.

I know that we have been doing a lot of talking about the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 8130 devices coming to Verizon and Sprint in November, however, there is another new GSM BlackBerry Pearl device commonly referred to as the BlackBerry Pearl 2.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 made it’s debut yesterday in Italy. With new new features including Wi-Fi connectivity, an enhanced visual interface, hardware refinements and a 2 megapixel camera with video capture, the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is just as advanced as the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 8130, differing only by the inclusion of Wi-Fi over GPS.
