Live Cingular BlackBerry 8900c Pictures

January 4, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 11 Comments

Howard Forums member ibby03 has just posted some pretty good quality Cingular BlackBerry 8900c pictures.

There is question to whether this device is actually the 8800c, however, ibby03 even called it the 8900c in the names of the images.
We’ve got several more pictures after the jump.

We will update this post if we find out that these are actually pictures of the Cingular BlackBerry 8800c.

I thought this thing was supposed to have a camera. I have been putting off getting a Pearl because I thought next version was supposed to be full QWERTY and have a camera like the Pearl.

The first version of the 8800 series (codename Indigo) will not have a camera. The next version of the 8800 series (codename Crimson), which will be released in April, will have a camera.

Why would they even make a model without the camera? Will it the model with the camera cost more?

Not all corporate users need or ‘can have’ for that matter a camera. Remember it’s always been about function and not form with RIM in the first place. This is a work tool first, gadget second. Whatever the case, the 8800 shown in these pics (I doubt it’s the 8900) is beautiful. I’ll have to start hassling my boss to ditch my 8130 for this baby when it comes out. Then again, I shouldn’t complain, some of my colleagues still have the 7290.

Mike is absolutely correct about the camera: many enterprise users need a model without camera. The trick about disabling the camera through the BES doesn’t really cut it when it comes to security…many secure facilities are not going to buy into the explanation that even though your phone has a camera lens, the BB admin has disabled it.

This model will sell extremely well, and will satisfy security minded enterprise users, and help them migrate to this new BB design.

So when is this phone being released?
I’d like to get one…I don’t want a camera phone.

[…] Live Cingular BlackBerry 8900c Pictures – this will be a nice upgrade, but I want to try the keyboard before I get too excited. […]
