January 12, 2006 by Robb Dunewood Leave a Comment

Google and BlackBerry maker Research in Motion today announced that GoogleTalk, the popular instant text messaging application from Google, will be available as a free download onto BlackBerry this Spring.

GoogleTalk for BlackBerry will join GoogleLocal for BlackBerry which enables Blackberry users to view maps and satellite imagery, find local businesses and get driving directions on their Blackberry handsets.

As mobile technology continues to converge, consumers are becoming increasingly more connected and require access to information at home, at work, and on the road,” Deep Nishar, Google’s product management director said in a statement.
