Google Maps now has live traffic information

July 26, 2006 by Robb Dunewood Leave a Comment

Google Maps, which is already on my list of 5 must have free BlackBerry downloads, has added a pretty cool new feature. Now you can get live, comprehensive traffic information in over thirty major U.S. metropolitan areas and partial information in an unspecified number of other areas.

The live traffic conditions feature is pretty easy to use. Just select your destination or pull up a map of your general area and select “show traffic” from the thumb menu. Traffic conditions are color coded. Red means congested, orange to yellow means slow, and green means clear.

Google Maps is a free BlackBerry download and can be download OTA (over-the-air) directly to your device from http://google.com/gmm.BB
