Free Download: BlackBerry Podcasts App Now Available In BlackBerry App World

August 11, 2010 by Robb Dunewood 4 Comments

BlackBerry Podcasts, which has been available to BlackBerry Beta Zone users for quite some time, has been officially released is is now available to all in BlackBerry App World.  I have to be honest, I am not terribly impressed with the BlackBerry Podcasts app, however, it is free and it can only get better from here.  For me, BlackBerry Podcasts won’t be replacing PodTrapper any time soon.

You can download BlackBerry Podcasts directly from BlackBerry App World, and, if you do, be sure to download the Simple Mobile Review Podcast.

To download the SMRpodcast in BlackBerry Podcasts,  click on “Add Podcast Channel” and type in the SMRpodcast feed URL, http://feeds.feedburner.com/simplemobilereviewpodcast.

Interesting… Via computer it says it supports all models in Canada and US on all carriers.

Via BB, it says the app is not available on my device or for my carrier. (8330 on Bell Canada)

Perhaps its because I am using Appworld 2 Beta?

The app is only for 4.6+ devices. If your 8330 is like mine, then it’s a 4.5 device. I’m sad…

Don’t waste your time if you have a Tour or older non-wifi BlackBerry. Few podcasts are small enough to fit the download size limit over cellular.

Stupid RIM still has that limitation on downloads, podcast or otherwise. Seriously, made sense 5 years ago but not today.

Why are you not impressed with the app and what’s better on podtrapper? I didn’t think it was that great at first because I was having trouble getting search results to load but it seems to be working better now. It is unfortunate though that it wont work with the older berrys.
