Free BlackBerry Download: MiM Lite

I was looking through BBHub the other day an came across a free BlackBerry download called MiM Lite for BlackBerry. MiM Lite is described as a BlackBerry compliant instant messenger utility for MSN Hotmail users and can be downloaded freely from the Handango website.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get MiM Lite working on my BlackBerry 7130e. I installed the application, entered in my Hotmail account name and password, and tried to log in. After about 10 minutes of a blue status bar moving from left to right, I gave up and uninstalled the app. It could have been user error, however, the bar for free BlackBerry IM programs has been set with Google Talk for BlackBerry.

One thing that I did notice while setting up my account with MiM Lite is that it only allows you to use a Hotmail account. I do use MSN Messenger, but I don’t use a Hotmail account when doing so. The Hotmail only nature of MiM Lite is enough to keep me from using it so when it didn’t work the first time, I didn’t really try to figure out why.

The problem you have with the bar is strange. If there were a conection error due to a bad TCP setting or coverture problems, BB would tell it to you with an error like “error sending/receiving data”. So thank you for having found this incidence! We will work on it! :)

Other thing to say is that you can use any MSN Messenger account, not only Hotmail.

I’m usin g MIM lite and it just doest work for me, you cannot sort your contact and I cannot remove the software form my blackberry (7250) and also you can only use it with an hotnail acoun. at leats it’s free!

I’ve tried downloading this onto my BB and it refuses to load. Not wasting my time trying it again.

Same thing here. It never connects. The blue bar just keeps cycling without any network activity. Scamware, I think.
