BlackBerry Storm Marketing Madness Is Under Way

October 27, 2008 by Robb Dunewood 12 Comments

Did anyone notice the number of times that Verizon BlackBerry Storm commercial came on during football on CBS yesterday? You know, the one where the device is sitting screen down on a coffee table and the screen cuts away just as someone picks it up to to take a look at it? (You can watch it after the jump) I know that I counted at least 7 times seeing it and that was only after thinking “Man, this commercial is coming on an awful lot.”

Word on the street is that the BlackBerry Storm will be out in the next 3 week so and I am wondering if RIM and Verizon just started the marketing madness that they the promised when the first officially announced the Storm.

Dude, that commercial had to come on at least 10 or 12 times. It really started to annoy me. I surely hope Verizon comes up with a few more that actually show the device and what it can do.

The commercials did become annoying yesterday and none of them have been anywhere near as good as any iphone commercial. I know this is off subject but do we know how the Verizon is going to handle GPS on the Storm?….I am still very bitter about the fact I have to pay extra to use it on my Pearl.

They need to cease with the teaser and lift the cover.

No one’s on pins and needles anymore…

You will have to use GPS via VZ navigotor like on your pearl.

After seeing that commerical for about the 8th or 9th time, it started to really annoy me. Not to the point where I don’t want one, but, I just couldn’t help thinking that RIM needs to come out with more commercials that really show how the device works.

It’s been heavily advertised, even before the Sunday games. I’ve also received mail from VZW regarding the Storm…about a week or two ago, just after the announcement. They are pushing the ads out there, but I’d love to see them do the commercials in stages of displaying what it can do as opposed to the peek-a-boo approach. Driving me nuts. Mix it up guys.

They have a 360 of the phone on the BB site. Also, looking at the size, it’s actually smaller than the Bold and very close to size with the Curve. It’s actually .05 MM smaller than the Pearl…not much, but surprised it’s that close.

    OK…I’m hooked.

this is getting ridiculous. i too am getting sick of seeing the same adds. building hype is great and all but what sells devices is how they work. the blackberry has the reputation as a very stable and efficient communication machine and they have to keep delivering this end user experience. so enough with the ad blitz and get them in stores. once they’re in the hands of users, we’ll be able to judge how good this device is or isn’t.

Blackberry News is reporting that the Storm is being released on November 15 at Verizon retail stores.

Though the ads may not be quite as good as Apple ads, I do give VZW and RIM credit for at least engaging in a real marketing campaign. That’s a big step forward from past releases.

    I read this somewhere:

“Verizon BlackBerry Storm will be available at Corporate Stores on November 15; Best Buy will get it on November 16 and everywhere else on the November 17”

I am tired of its hype.. It wasnt that much when curve was coming out… I was able to get curve before the official release dates by ordering it over the phone… Please ppl post experiences!
