BlackBerry Messenger

I know that I have talked about BlackBerry Messenger before and even recently listed it as one of my 5 must have free BlackBerry downloads, however, I feel that I need to mention it again because it is just an incredibly useful and nifty application.

Now, I will be the first one to tell you that BlackBerry Messenger is not the most technologically advanced IM client for the BlackBerry, however, in classic BlackBerry style, BlackBerry Messenger is easy to set up, simple to use, and flat out gets the job done when it comes to sending quick messages to another BlackBerry user or even a group of users.

One of the things that I like most about BlackBerry Messenger is that all BlackBerry users are able to use it. You don’t even have to sign up for an account. If you have a BlackBerry, download BlackBerry Messenger and invite other BlackBerry users via email or their BlackBerry PIN. Invitees that don’t already have BlackBerry Messenger installed can download the app over-the-air via a link in the invitation they receive or just go to the downloads section of mobile.BlackBerry.com.

how can you tell if one of your contacts are texting someone else on their contact list and what does contact info mean when it says busy

Hey guys,

let me elaborate this as many of you are asking this question repeatedly. On BB msnger the designations next to your message mean the following:

TICK: Message has been delivered from your device.
D: Message has been delivered to recipients device.
R: Message has been read by recipient.
A: Recipient is writing a reply.

pretty simple. sometimes due to mobile network lag times and connectivity they may be slow to change, but thats what they stand for…

enjoy BBm’ing…

I’m having the same issue as Jooj…I have been sending BBM’s to various people as an experiment, and received (D’s) as the status to all of them, but the (R) indicating that the message has been read is not showing up anymore, and thus I am not receiving any responses either. I also received this error typed message a couple of times when trying to open my BBM application, but cannot remember what it said or what was meant by it…Something in regards to a layout?

Follow up…okay guys…nevermind I just received a BUNCH of delayed responses, which is odd…apparently there has been issues with BBM’s going through….

I have sent BBM IMs to a person who says they can not receive and read them. however, they show up on my BB as first D, then R. So – how can this be? How can the status of what I sent them be R if they say they are not receiving them?
Love it if anyone knew.
Thanks.

Update your OS with the software it came with or download the software from blackberry.com or your provider maybe… After an update, install the bb messenger. They new version is really nice. You will need a usb cable with a mini connector on one end… I don’t know if the 8100 updates over the air….

PS: if it is enterprised joined, you will most likely need to rejoin it to the company servers. At least the 8330 I worked on the other day had to…

i am using a blackberry messenger 8900. when this one person tries to add me and i accept it says pending and when i try to add them, they don’t get the request…
does anyone know how to fix this or what the problem is…?

If they add you and you accept, you don’t need to add them. The don’t get your invite because they are already in your contact list.
