Average Retail ValueOf The BlackBerry Storm: $499

by Robb Dunewood on November 4, 2008 · 12 comments

A friend just sent me an interesting email where he has concluded that the BlackBerry Storm has an average retail value (ARV) of $499.

On the updated Verizon BlackBerry Storm page that we talked about yesterday, you will find a link to BlackBerry Storm Scavenger hunt where you could win one of 50 grand prizes that includes a BlackBerry Storm and a $50 Verizon gift card.

In the fine print Verizon states that the average retail value of the grand prize is $549.  If it is safe to assume that a $50 Verizon gift card is actually worth $50 then you could also assume that the BlackBerry Storm is worth $499.

It’s amazing what you can find out when you read the fine print…

$499 is steep, but I think we’ll be in the $199 – $299 range after all is said and done with rebates, etc. $499 would turn away many at launch, including myself.
