When we talk about BlackBerrys here on RIMarkable we almost always do so from the perspective of the BlackBerry user. We know, however, that there are a lot of BlackBerry Administrators managing BlackBerry Enterprise Server deployments of all sizes that stop by from time to time as well. I have a question for BlackBerry administrators today.
What tools do you use to help manage your BlackBerry deployment?
I am sure that a lot of BlackBerry administrators use just the native tools to manage BES, however, I am just as sure that a lot of BES admins, especially ones with larger deployments, use third party tools that make dealing with their day to day BlackBerry administration tasks a lot easier and much less time consuming.
If you use such tools in your BES deployment, drop us a comment and tell us the name of the tool and how it helps you.

I know for a fact that there are a lot of Verizon BlackBerry users that are ecstatic right now because their long wait is over as the Verizon BlackBerry Curve is now available. At the same time, however, those very Verizon BlackBerry users are ticked off that Verizon still locks down their branded versions of BlackBerry devices.
There is no question that Verizon is still Verizon. I wonder, however, if Verizon could or would ever appease their customer base by offering an unlocked BlackBerry and not lose revenue by just charging more for it.
Make no mistake, Verizon can tell you that they disable certain features to make devices secure and stable on their network until they are blue in the face. We know, however, that RIM makes BlackBerrys more than secure and stable enough and all Verizon is doing is charging for GPS because, well, they can, and we know that they are all about their bottom line.
Verizon makes a lot of money of VZ Navigator, however, most Verizon BlackBerry users that I know don’t have it. They simply refuse to pay a monthly fee for GPS on a phone when they could easily by a cheap stand alone GPS unit that is way better than a mobile device which acts like a GPS unit for under a hundred bucks. I’d bet a lot of them would have been willing to pay an extra $50 to $100 up front if the built-in GPS wasn’t disabled.
Verizon should think about that.

Here is little something something we had in our inbox this morning. Is the Sprint BlackBerry Curve going to ship tomorrow? There are so many rumors floating around right now that it is really hard to tell. All I know is that I knew that Sprint wouldn’t get the Curve before Verizon.
It looks like someone over at BGR had this in their inbox this morning as well. Maybe this rumor is true… I guess we will find out tomorrow…

While the excitement of the Curve on Verizon has been overwhelming, one specification in the features list stood out. It is not Rev. A upgradeable. That is correct (see features capture). Why? The Pearl carries Rev. A speeds. For those of you who
use your device for tethering, this may be an issue when deciding if you should purchase the Curve.
On another note, the Curve does carry an additional 32 MB of Flash memory over the Pearl model. For those of you carrying those large contact lists, bloated calendars, etc., some relief has been provided by the new Curve.

This shot was a capture from a cached search showing that the Sprint Store (which at one point had June 1 as the release date) updated it’s site with ‘no date’ on it’s page, however, added additional pictures, etc., as if it was going to launch soon. This leads me to believe that Sprint was all set to release the Curve, but for reasons unknown (…eh hem…EVDO issues) have pulled back the launch and reset the date until mid-June. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more…
