I was just taking a look at the T-Mobile BlackBerry 8800 that was officially announced last Friday and released today on the T-Mobile site and I have to say that I am a bit surprised at the price. T-Mobile has the BlackBerry 8800 listed at $349.99 after a $200 instant rebate. This is $50 more than what Cingular has their 8800 listed for and I’ve seen the the Cingular model as low as $99.

Research in Motion released a press release this morning about its plans to put out what sounds like BlackBerry emulation software for Windows Mobile 6 that will enable select devices to emulate the BlackBerry OS allowing them to run BlackBerry applications and connect to BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES).
Is it just me, or, does this sound an awful lot like BlackBerry Connect?

Research In Motion today announced plans to expand its support for Windows Mobile-based devices with a new software application suite that will enable devices from third-party manufacturers to benefit from the popular BlackBerry software applications and services. RIM plans to begin offering the new software application suite later this year for select devices based on Windows Mobile 6. Once installed, the software will provide users with a virtual BlackBerry application experience, including support for BlackBerry email, phone, calendar, address book, tasks, memos, browser, instant messaging and other applications developed for the BlackBerry platform. Devices running the BlackBerry application suite will be able to connect to BlackBerry services via BlackBerry Enterprise Server as well as BlackBerry Internet Service.
