BlackBerry Leaks is reporting that they have received “solid word” on the list of older BlackBerry devices that will support BlackBerry OS 6.0 or BlackBerry 6 as RIM is referring to it. There are only 2 devices being sold right now that will support BlackBerry 6 and chances are that you don’t own one of them…
BlackBerry OS 6.0
As some of you long time RIMarkable readers may know, I am on the record several times stating that Research in Motion should buy Palm. The last time that I felt strongly about this was back in late 2008 before webOS came out and Palm’s stock price was down under $2.00.
Even though webOS is a strong mobile operating system, in my opinion, Palm just can’t seem to get right when it comes to running the company. Their stock price today (at the time of this posting) is down 19% or so to $4.60 and the downward spiral, according to some analysts, is going to continue downward to $0. (I’ve never heard of a $0 target before)
I will go on the record again…
Research in Motion should buy Palm!
There are a couple of images posted over at BBLeaks that are being touted as the first images of BlackBerry OS 6. They kind of remind me of the image of that BlackBerry Super App put on display during that BlackBerry Super App webinar back in February.
For BlackBerry’s sake, I hope that OS 6 is a lot closer than the rumors are saying it is.
According to a solid BGR contact, BlackBerry OS 6.0 is in the works. Additionally, BlackBerry OS 5.2 is going to be released this year.
We’ve got so many questions… The biggest being will OS 6.0 be out this year as well and is 5.2 just a bridge to allow users to upgrade to 6.0?
