According to Frost & Sullivan analyst Samir Sakpal, a new 4G BlackBerry with a 1Ghz processor and a 5 megapixel camera with “both front and back imaging” is expected to launch this year sometime in December. The new device, code named BlackBerry Triton is expected to go head to head with Apple’s iPhone 4, however, it isn’t clear if this device will have a standard QWERTY keyboard, a touch screen only, or, perhaps even both.

Now, these are the rumours we want to hear. But, if it’s an exclusive, then don’t want to hear about it. I think they need to do short windows perhaps, but they need devices on as much carriers as possible.
^ I do agree, but that is the direction BB needs to go in if they plan on staying in the smartphone race. But yea, if it’s only on AT&T or something like that, it won’t do much.
4G is for Wimax or LTE for Blackberry ?
BB OS6 looks like it was designed to run on a touch screen. It would be a fail of epic proportions if RIM made this so called “iphone killer” a QWERTY only without a touch screen. But knowing RIM, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it anyway.
I would like it to have both touch and qwerty…like the slider…That would be the perfect storm..Just don’t call it that..
It may be too late. They might have to hole up quietly for months and redesign the entire phone, keeping everything we love about the BlackBerry while adding everything that’s expected of a smartphone (e.g., a front facing camera, for WHAT reason? SRSLY, every new phone I see reviewed on CNET has “no front facing camera” on the cons list; who the F really needs that?).
A front facing camera is used for video conferencing using an app like Qik as used on the EVO, upcoming EPIC and Droid X to name a few. Having two cameras allows you to see and be seen while talking to someone or if doing a meeting via the phone. Go back to cnet and look at the phones I mentioned and I’m sure they have much better explanations than I can give
