A new Slingbox just received the go ahead from the FCC. It is called the Slingbox Pro and is due out in January.
Why should you care? Because SlingMedia co-founder and CEO, Blake Krikorian, in a GigaOm Show interview, hinted that a SlingPlayer Mobile Client for the BlackBerry may be coming as well.
Um yeah, thats cool, but it would be useless for people who do not have 3g internet access on their blackberry and that is say everyone with a GSM blackberry, making Verizon and Sprint the only people who could get any use out of it. So good for them bad for T-Mobile and ATT. Howver, I figure that 3G GSM blackberrys are just over the horrizon, and there are certainly plenty of power users waiting for it. An yeah there is wifi, but at this point, what are there like 2 models of blackberry that have that and none to my knowlege are shipping yes here in the US. So would be nice, but RIM will have to catch up on the GSM side to make this usable, by ATT and T-mobile customers.
Tmo is releasing the 3g network some time end of 07 so they should be good to go.
I cannot remember where but I remember reading about a new 3G blackberry coming out on telstra in austrailia early next year.
