Twitter for BlackBerry

Twitter for BlackBerry

Update: Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones v1.0.0.40 is now available. You can download it from blackberry.com/twitter or pick it up in BlackBerry App World.

We just heard that the official Twitter for BlackBerry client which is currently in open beta will receive an update tonight.  Just a week ago we asked what you thought about Twitter for BlackBerry and it seemed like the biggest issue was the inability to edit a Re-Tweet.  Well, it looks like this, and a lot of other features have been added to the update which will start rolling out tonight.

Check out new Twitter for BlackBerry features after the jump…

Twitter for BlackBerry

The official Twitter for BlackBerry application has been available publicly for a little while now, and, I wanted to get your take and see what you think about it.  For me, Twitter for BlackBerry has become my primary Twitter client on my device.  I am not the biggest Twitter user out there, however, I use that app every day and it works for me.

As far as BlackBerry applications developed by RIM, I would put Twitter for BlackBerry second only to BlackBerry Messenger.  That’s just one man’s opinion…  What’s yours.

Twitter for BlackBerry

Twitter had good things to say about Twitter for BlackBerry which was released in a public beta last night.

Working closely with RIM to deliver the official Twitter app has been a great experience and we are looking forward to bringing more and more Twitter innovation to BlackBerry.

If you haven’t already installed Twitter for BlackBerry you can pick it up on BlackBerry App World or download it OTA to your device by visiting http://www.blackberry.com/twitterdownload.

Twitter for BlackBerry beta extended to June 30th

There was a rumor floating around that Twitter for BlackBerry was going to be officially released yesterday on March 31st.  We later found out that that rumor was false , however, an update of the Twitter for BlackBerry client to version 1.0.0.37 leaked out earlier today.

Mauricio from BlackBerry Rocks noticed when setting up Twitter for BlackBerry this little tidbit at the bottom of the the EULA…

Test Period: Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, the Pilot Test shall expire on June 30, 2010.

Well, we knew that Twitter for BlackBerry wasn’t going to be released on the 31st of March, but, we didn’t think that it would take another 3 months for it to come out.

Twitter for BlackBerry v1.0.0.37

Twitter for BlackBerry, which is still in closed beta, has been updated to version 1.0.0.37 and leaked online.  BBTweeps has list OTA download links for:

I’ve just installed Twitter for BlackBerry v1.0.0.37 myself and haven’t had but a few minutes to play with it, however, it does seem to be a bit faster and it looks like the @mentions screen is now cached.

Twitter for BlackBerry

Today at CTIA 2010, CrackBerry Kevin found out that the official Twitter for BlackBerry client will launch next Wednesday, March 31st.  Twitter for BlackBerry has been in a “closed” beta for over a month, although you could easily find a leaked version online if you looked hard enough.

If RIM addressed the speed of Twitter for BlackBerry I’d say that it could be a nice little Twitter client.  Definitely not the best BlackBerry Twitter client available, but, certainly good enough to significantly decrease the number of people that would be willing to pay for a third party client.

@SocialScope…  You should have released your client long ago.  You will never make what you could have made if you would have released a client 6 months to a year ago.  Sure, some BlackBerry users will buy your client if and when you ever release it.  Most, however, won’t…

Twitter for BlackBerry and LinkedIn for BlackBerry

According to the latest edition of the BlackBerry Connection newsletter, both Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones and LinkedIn for BlackBerry are almost here.

Get ready because two of your favorite business apps will arrive in BlackBerry App World™ soon. The first is the Twitter® for BlackBerry® smartphones app. Mentions, search, direct messaging, retweeting, following—it will all be packed into this free app from Research in Motion.

The second is the highly anticipated LinkedIn for BlackBerry app. Look up profiles, send messages right from your Messages folder, check network updates, and see profile photos in your Contacts—everything you need to become a mobile networking machine.

All that I can say is it is about frigging time…

Twitter for BlackBerry

For those of you that haven’t heard, Research in Motion has put out a limited pre-release of Twitter for BlackBerry.  I’ve been playing around with it for a bit over a day now and I’ve got two words for it.  Not Impressed

Twitter for BlackBerry is a pre-release, so, it is conceivable that RIM will polish the app up a bit before they fully release it.  Here is our list of 10 things they need to address if and when they do…
