The official Twitter for BlackBerry client went into public beta back in April of this year. It was later updated to version 184.108.40.206 in May. Now that we are at the beginning of July, Twitter for BlackBerry is coming out of beta and will be officially released on BlackBerry App World sometime tonight.

There is a new version of UberTwitter, arguably the most popular Twitter client for the BlackBerry, currently in a closed beta. The upcoming version, .9747, sports a completely reworked user interface which BlackBerry Leaks was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of.
Feedback on the new UberTwitter UI is pretty mixed. It kind of reminds me of the official Twitter for BlackBerry client, which, I actually quite like, thus, you can probably figure out which camp I fall into.
Update: Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones v220.127.116.11 is now available. You can download it from blackberry.com/twitter or pick it up in BlackBerry App World.
We just heard that the official Twitter for BlackBerry client which is currently in open beta will receive an update tonight. Just a week ago we asked what you thought about Twitter for BlackBerry and it seemed like the biggest issue was the inability to edit a Re-Tweet. Well, it looks like this, and a lot of other features have been added to the update which will start rolling out tonight.

The official Twitter for BlackBerry application has been available publicly for a little while now, and, I wanted to get your take and see what you think about it. For me, Twitter for BlackBerry has become my primary Twitter client on my device. I am not the biggest Twitter user out there, however, I use that app every day and it works for me.
As far as BlackBerry applications developed by RIM, I would put Twitter for BlackBerry second only to BlackBerry Messenger. That’s just one man’s opinion… What’s yours.

Twitter had good things to say about Twitter for BlackBerry which was released in a public beta last night.

There was a rumor floating around that Twitter for BlackBerry was going to be officially released yesterday on March 31st. We later found out that that rumor was false , however, an update of the Twitter for BlackBerry client to version 18.104.22.168 leaked out earlier today.

Well, we knew that Twitter for BlackBerry wasn’t going to be released on the 31st of March, but, we didn’t think that it would take another 3 months for it to come out.

I’ve just installed Twitter for BlackBerry v126.96.36.199 myself and haven’t had but a few minutes to play with it, however, it does seem to be a bit faster and it looks like the @mentions screen is now cached.
Today at CTIA 2010, CrackBerry Kevin found out that the official Twitter for BlackBerry client will launch next Wednesday, March 31st. Twitter for BlackBerry has been in a “closed” beta for over a month, although you could easily find a leaked version online if you looked hard enough.
If RIM addressed the speed of Twitter for BlackBerry I’d say that it could be a nice little Twitter client. Definitely not the best BlackBerry Twitter client available, but, certainly good enough to significantly decrease the number of people that would be willing to pay for a third party client.
@SocialScope… You should have released your client long ago. You will never make what you could have made if you would have released a client 6 months to a year ago. Sure, some BlackBerry users will buy your client if and when you ever release it. Most, however, won’t…
