I admit it. I got a BlackBerry PlayBook day one… Even though I really like my PlayBook for web browsing, the device does truly pale in comparison to the iPad for most everything else. I haven’t recommended the BlackBerry PlayBook to a single person. As a matter for fact, I’ve recommended to the few people who have asked about them that they not get one.
These recommendations are based on fact that the PlayBook suffers from a ridiculously small number of applications that are worth more than the time it took to code them and the fact that the BlackBerry PlayBook costs as much as an iPad. If you had $500 or more to shell out on tablet , why not get an iPad? This was the case, at least, until RIM reported second quarter fiscal 2011 results last week, told the world just how bad the BlackBerry PlayBook was doing, and, Research in Motion co-CEO Jim Balsillie said that the PlayBook would see price cuts.

Word on the street is that Rogers was supposed to start selling the BlackBerry Bold 9900 this coming Thursday, however, some locations that have the device in stock have already started to sell their inventory. Not all Rogers stores have BlackBerry 9900 devices in stock, and, not all that do are selling them, however, some stores definitely are.

According to a trusted TechnoBuffalo source, the new touch BlackBerry Bold 9900 will hit Rogers’ network up in Canada, August 9th. There was no word on pricing, but, is starting to look more and more like new BlackBerry devices will be announced very soon.
Rogers Wireless has launched contest where they are giving away 50 BlackBerry Torch devices to customers. All you have to do to enter for a chance to win one is fill out out a brief entry from, be at least 18 years old by November 3rd, and live in Canada. All entries must be received by 11:59pm on December 5th. Winners will be randomly selected around 2:00 p.m. EST on Dec. 6th.
If you live in Canada, this is one of those contests that you should probably enter. 50 people are going to get a free BlackBerry Torch worth over $600. You may as well throw your name in the hat…

Contrary to our last post, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 will be available on Rogers starting September 24th, not September 15th. You will be able to pick the device up online or in store for $199.99 on a 3-year contract.
