BlackBerry Radio

Research in Motion has been working on a radio discovery app for the BlackBerry, and, later today, they will unveil it to select BlackBerry Beta Zone users in the United States.  The new application is called BlackBerry Radio and the beta version will put multiple mobile radio services at your fingertips with no set-up and no cost for the beta user beyond their standard data plan costs.

BlackBerry Radio is not a traditional radio app, but instead works with multiple radio apps to make the process of finding and listening to radio on a BlackBerry® smartphone quicker, easier and more integrated by presenting a sampling of services from some of our most popular partners.

Key features of BlackBerry Radio include:

  • Access popular internet and terrestrial radio services like Slacker, Pandora, Clear Channel, and Corus in one place
  • Quickly browse genre-based radio stations
  • Enjoy seamless integration with your BlackBerry smartphone for quick and easy access to BlackBerry radio partners and the Amazon MP3 storefront
  • Just start rockin’! No set-up required
  • Try premium radio apps within BlackBerry Radio for free

Head over to Inside BlackBerry to get more information on BlackBerry Radio.  In order to join the beta you must be a member of BlackBerry Beta Zone, live in the United States, and own a BlackBerry Torch 9800 , Bold 9780, or Style 9670.

Myxer MP3 for BlackBerry

Myxer, the somewhat popular MP3 music service has just launched Myxer MP3  for BlackBerry and touts a catalog of over 2 million tracks.  If you are a Myxer user, Mxyer MP3 for BlackBerry is probably an application that you may want to check out.  If you aren’t a Myxer user you should probably check out, Slacker Radio, Pandora, or even iHeartRadio, as they seem to offer a better experience in my opinion…

For those of you that have been waiting for the official release, iHeartRadio is now available for the BlackBerry Storm.  We aren’t sure what all has changed since the beta was released last week, however, it appears to work very well and arguably is the best looking of all the free BlackBerry internet radio clients.

Get iHeartRadio for your BlackBerry Storm here.

iheartradio_storm

It was just nine days ago when we first heard about iHeartRadio, an internet radio client for the BlackBerry, being released.  Unfortunately, there wasn’t a version available for the BlackBerry Storm.  There was a coming soon sign for the Storm, however, we had no idea that coming soon meant the following week.

To download iHeartRadio for the BlackBerry Storm beta, point your Storm’s browser to the following link…

iHeartRadio for BlackBerry

There is another internet radio application for the BlackBerry making its way around the web called iHeartRadio and it looks pretty promising.  Unfortunately, iHeartRadio doesn’t work on the BlackBerry Storm so I will have to wait until I can install on one of my backup devices before I give you my two cents.  From the screens shots, however, the interface looks really good.  Maybe even better than Slacker.

iHeartRadio is currnetly supported on the BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, and Bold.  Not sure about the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and it is coming soon to the BlackBerry Storm.  iHeartRadio is a free BlackBerry download and you can get it here.

iHeartRadio for BlackBerry Storm now available…
