Word on the street is that a new email icon is showing up on BlackBerry devices of users how have Hotmail accounts configured through BIS. We know that RIM has recently upgraded BIS to version 3.1 as 2-way Contact Sync is now available to Yahoo! mail BlackBerry users, and, I wonder if this new email icon is part of the BIS 3.1 upgrade as well?

It looks like Research in Motion and Microsoft presenting to us again, for what seems like the 2nd or 3rd time, the idea of native Microsoft Live Services on the BlackBerry. According to a press release just out today, Microsoft Live Messenger and Hotmail both are to receive BlackBerry push support in the not too distant future.
The integration of Windows Live services into the BlackBerry platform will allow customers who use Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger on their BlackBerry smartphone to benefit from the BlackBerry platform architecture with the ability to communicate in real-time using push technology, and offering an exceptional mobile communications experience. Customers will also be able to seamlessly access their Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger account from their BlackBerry smartphone by simply entering their Windows Live e-mail address and password once.
