BlackBerry Google Reader Client

BlackBerry News Feeds

Research in Motion has announced that BlackBerry News Feeds has been updated to version 1.0.1.2 and is now available in BlackBerry Beta Zone.

New BlackBerry News Feeds features include:

  • Ability to delete all prior articles when viewing a feed or viewing “All Unread Items”.
  • Ability to mark the list of items as read when viewing a feed or viewing “All Unread Items”.
  • If you swipe left or right in a feed, the screen now moves to the previous or next item in the feed.
  • Ability to zoom in on images and text in feed items.
  • New message, wireless network, and battery (while charging) indicators appear in the app’s header.

Although these new feature go a long way to improve the overall usability of BlackBerry News Feeds, the application still lacks Google Reader synchronization, which for me is a deal breaker.  I will continue to use BerryReader, and won’t even bother installing BlackBerry News Feeds.  BerryReader is a premium BlackBerry application but, it is currently just $4.99, 50% off the regular price, and, does offer a Free Trial…

BerryReader for BlackBerry

I have to admit that it is not very often that I actually spend money buying BlackBerry applications.  It’s not that there aren’t a lot of really good BlackBerry applications out there, however, one of the perks of writing a BlackBerry blog is that developers often send you evaluations of their software so that you can review it.

That being said, I recently spent $10 on BerryReader, the most awesome Google Reader client for the BlackBerry that I’ve ever seen, and, it was worth every penny.
