With a such large number of corporate business travelers on the BlackBerry you would expect that they type of application that would drive on the platform would be the travel companion.
One week ago to the day we talked about an update to WhatsApp Messenger for BlackBerry that took a bit longer to arrive in BlackBerry App World than we initially thought. We are happy to report, however, that WhatsApp Messenger for BlackBerry v2.7.2330 is now available for download.
BlackBerry App World v3.1.0.56 is out of beta and now available for download to all. New features in BlackBerry App World v3.1.0.56 include:
App Gifting App Begging - allows users to beg their BBM contacts to buy BlackBerry Apps as gifts
Content Rating - allows content providers to rate the maturity level of their apps allowing users to filter content based on said content rating
WiFi Only Support - permits BlackBerry App World user to download when only Wi-Fi is available
New Language Support - Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Dutch
If you haven’t already been prompted to download the latest version of BlackBerry App World, you can pick it up by heading to http://www.blackberry.com/appworld.
BlackBerry App World v3.1 is now available for download in BlackBerry Beta Zone and contains a few new features including Wi-Fi only download support and content ratings.
Unfortunately we must also report that Research in Motion has included the most bass-ackwards implementation of application gift requesting imaginable. Instead of allowing a gift giver to initiate the process of giving of a BlackBerry app to someone, BlackBerry App World v3.1 instead allows users that want gifts to beg for them via BBM.
I can honestly tell you that the first time that I ever receive an unsolicited gift request from a BBM contact will be the last time I ever use BBM and possibly BlackBerry App World. Let’s hope that RIM kills the gift begging feature in BlackBerry App World v3.1 before it becomes officially available, or, at the very least, adds the ability to opt out of being begged by contacts to buy them apps.
I was browsing around BlackBerry App World earlier today and noticed that it has undergone a bit of a website makeover. I haven’t noticed any new functionality or anything, but, I do like the new look and feel.
There is a new version of Facebook for BlackBerry, v2.0.0.58, available and ready for download via BlackBerry App World. This update is just a maintenance release and includes just general fixes…
