There are rumors floating around that BlackBerry App World will start offering BlackBerry Themes for download on November 9th. I never really understood why, with the popularity of BlackBerry Themes, App World didn’t offer them from the time that they first launched, but, for whatever reason that this was the case, it looks like RIM has gotten over it.
For those of you that don’t want to wait until RIM gets around to letting you download themes directly to your BlackBerry via BlackBerry App World, you should really check out the RIMarkable App Store powered by Mobihand. Like App World, the RIMarkable App Store allows you to browse, download, and install from a huge selection of FREE! and premium BlackBerry applications and we already have access to thousands of BlackBerry themes that you can download over the air directly to your device.
The RIMarkable App Store is free. A boatload of the applications and themes are free. Check it out. Just head over to http://store.rimarkable.com/appstore from device or desktop and download the RIMarkable App Store directly to your device.

Research in Motion hasn’t really been keeping BlackBerry App World a secret, however, you will notice that if you head over to http://www.blackberry.com, App World is now featured on the BlackBerry homepage.
I wonder if we will start seeing new BlackBerry devices shipping with BlackBerry App World pre-installed, or, at least a launcher for BlackBerry App World?

One of the big shortcomings of BlackBerry App World is that the only way to view the catalog of available applications was through the actual BlackBerry App World application on your device. There is no way to view App World via the Web.
This, at least, was the case until today as Research in Motion now allows you to browse the entire BlackBerry App World catalog via the web.

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but, shouldn’t BlackBerry App World be excluded from BlackBerry App World’s top downloads list?

Research in Motion has just updated BlackBerry App World to version 1.1.0.11 and it is now available for download.
BlackBerry App World v1.1.0.11 features include:
- Archive applications (free or purchased) to the external MicroSD memory card.
- Enjoy quick re-installation of applications.
- Choose to browse free or paid applications when viewing catalog.
Needless to say, anyone using BlackBerry App World on their device should upgrade to the newest version which you can do via the link below.

BlackBerry App World has just crossed the 200o BlackBerry applicatoin threshold and, later this month, will be available to BlackBerry users in Italy, France, Germany and Spain. The problem for RIM is that App World is still pretty lame, if you ask me.
The only reason that RIM came out with BlackBerry App World was because of the success of Apple’s App Store, which just turned a year old by the way. If you are going to emulate the App Store, emulate the App Store. Give me an interface that is easy to search, $0.99 downloads, and the ability to buy applications from my desktop.
I don’t expect App World to host the ridiculous number of BlackBerry applications that the App Store does for the iPhone and the iPod, but, at least make the application pleasent to use.

Just a few months ago Research in Motion launched BlackBerry App World, its App Store like BlackBerry application portal where you can download free and premium BlackBerry applications directly to your device. There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the launch of BlackBerry App World, however, now that it’s here, you really don’t hear all that much about it.
One of the huge differences between BlackBerry App World and Apple’s App Store is that the App Store is pretty much the only place to get applications for your iPhone or iPod Touch. BlackBerry App World, on the other hand, is one of many places to get applications for you BlackBerry and, often is not the most convenient place to do so.

Being a big time Microsoft OneNote user, I haven’t really paid a lot of attention to Evernote.
Evernote allows you to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere. Did we mention that it’s free?
Now that there is a an Evernote for BlackBerry client I just might have to…
Evernote for BlackBerry® lets you capture any experience, idea, or inspiration as it happens, wherever you find yourself. Evernote for BlackBerry also lets you search and find all the notes that you made using Evernote on your desktop, so that all of your memories are always at your fingertips.
Evernote for BlackBerry is available for the BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Bold, and BlackBerry Curve 8900. It is a free BlackBerry application and you can pick it up over on BlackBerry App World.

Chances are that you’ve already heard about BlackBerry App World, however, in case you haven’t, it is supposed to be something like, and I use the term “like” loosely, Apple’s App Store.
App World is definitely not a one-stop shop for all all the BlackBerry applications you could ever want on your device and, quite honestly, I don’t know that it ever will be, however, here are, in my opinion, 5 things that could immediately improve BlackBerry App World and make it a bit more useful.
- Create A Tag For All Free BlackBerry Applications — I know that the purpose of App World is for Developers and RIM to be able to sell BlackBerry Applications, however, free apps will be downloaded overwhelming more so than paid apps and not give users a way to quickly and easily search for free apps is annoying.
- Offer $0.99 Downloads — Charging 300% 3x as much for your cheapest downloads than the App Store, which you are trying to emulate, was simply a brilliant idea… Not!
- Make App World Accessible To Desktop Browsers – Let me buy on my computer and send a link to open up the OTA download to my BlackBerry.
- Improve App World’s Search — It is truly quite bad…
- Provide Exclusive Titles — Offer a few BlackBerry Applications, that you can get only on App World.
I can certainly think of more than 5 things that would immediately make BlackBerry App World better, however, I figure that I will leave that for the comments.
If you don’t already have App World installed on your BlackBerry, point your devices BlackBerry Browser to http://www.blackberry.com/appworld to get it.
