SlingPlayer Mobile For BlackBerry Now Available

SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerryAfter what seems like an eternity; we first started hearing official confirmation about this back in September of 07; SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry is now officially available.

Even though SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry only works on select BlackBerry devices with Wi-Fi and has a $30 price tag, I imagine that it will be very popular.  SlingPlayer Mobile will run on the BlackBerry Bold via AT&T’s 3G network so it is kind of disheartening that, after all this time, SlingMedia hasn’t gotten this to run on Verizon’s EVDO network.

I doubt if the problem is that they can’t get it to work. They just refuse to do so because VZW doesn’t let RIM put WiFi on the Blackberry devices that they carry.

Around and around we go. I wish VZW would come right out and say,”We don’t want WiFi on Blackberry devices and we don’t see a time in the future when we do. Stop expecting WiFi on new devices as it is not coming soon.”

I wish RIM and verizon customers would come right out and say, “We no longer will allow you to cripple the applications and functions on our Blackberry devices. We pay you to provide cellular service, NOT to dictate how we are able to use our smartphones.”
