Rumor has it that BlackBerry maker, Research in Motion, and Cingular have begun the initial round of testing on the BlackBerry 8710c. According to Engadget Mobile insider, Roc A Fella, several of Cingular’s call centers in the US now have the device.

The new BlackBerry 8710c will have quadband GSM and a dual-band 850/1900 UTMS radio housed inside of a BlackBerry 8700 body.

There is no word on a release date or if Cingular will have a BlackBerry 8800 model out before the 8710c.

What’s thought to be the differences between the expected 8710 and the expected 8800? Is it simply Quadband for 8710 and trackball compared to new slimmer 8800 (pearl + full qwerty)? Will they both have the modem capabilities of the 8703? I’m still using my 2+ year old 7290 but it’s pretty beat up and duct taped together at this point, I thought i was holding out for the 8800 (full qwerty – no camera wanted), but do i really want the 8710, just wondering?

John, if it were me, I would hold out for the 8800. Rumors have it coming out very soon.

The removable media and the enhanced multimedia capabilities make it worth . the wait in my opinion. The BlackBerry 8700 series devices will be 18 months old when the 8800 hits the street.

Is the included a picture the actual 8710c?

No, it is not. This is just a generic 8700 series device.

I see. Thanks, Rob. I’ve been itching for another black bb device in the 8700 series that Cingular supports..hoping this one is more aesthetically pleasing then the grey.
