Research In Motion Expands BlackBerry 7 Portfolio with the New BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 Smartphones

This morning via press release Research in Motion announced that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Curve 9360 have become the world’s first SIM-based smartphones to receive MasterCard PayPass handset certification, allowing BlackBerry users to pay for goods and services using NFC (Near Field Communications) at merchants that accept MasterCard.

Research in Motion today announced BlackBerry Business Cloud Services for Microsoft Office 365, a new RIM-hosted online service for midsized businesses and enterprises that extends Microsoft Exchange Online to BlackBerry® smartphones, and allows organizations to self-manage their BlackBerry deployments in the cloud. An open beta for the service is launching today in over 30 countries.

During his keynote presentation at the GITEX conference in Dubai, Research In Motion co-CEO Jim Balsillie this morning introduced BlackBerry Tag, new service coming to BlackBerry devices that support NFC which will allow BlackBerry users to tap their devices together and instantly share data such as contact information (including BBM contacts), documents, pictures, and even multimedia. BlackBerry Tag reminds me a lot of Bump, the popular iPhone and Android application, but, with the added benefit that BlackBerry users won’t have to install the app, as, it will be included in a future update of the BlackBerry 7 operating system…

For those of you that have been waiting for the new BlackBerry 7 Smartphones to be introduced, your wait is finally over. To go along with the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 introduced back in May at BlackBerry World 2011, RIM today has introduced two new BlackBerry 7 devices, the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and the BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860. We are still waiting on official release dates from the various carriers that will offer these new BlackBerry smartphones, but, the general consensus is that they will go on sale starting this month.
