I’ve been messing around with E*TRADE Mobile Pro since it was released last week and I have to say that it, thus far, appears to be a really cool application. It has a very good chance of making my next Must Have Free BlackBerry Downloads list.
If you have an E*TRADE account, Mobile Pro is something you need to just download. If you don’t, but, follow the market even a little bit, you should sign up an E*TRADE account and then download Mobile Pro.
E*TRADE Mobile Pro is an awesome application, especially for one that it is free. I have to admit, however, that in all of it’s awesomeness, it is a bit distracting too. The application itself is not distracting… Just the way that I, and I would gather many BlackBerry users, are using it.
I find myself constantly checking my positions and watchlists and the urge to fall into incredibly bad trading habits is pressing. I haven’t done anything stupid yet but I hope the the overwhelming need to check where I am subsides so that I can get some work done.

The FCC has approved the BlackBerry Bold allowing the device to be sold in the United States. We still aren’t sure when the Bold will be released by AT&T, but, there is nothing legally preventing them from doing so at this point. We are guessing that it won’t be until the iPhone madness dies down a bit.

The “Big G” has put out an update to Google Talk for BlackBerry which is now up to version 2.1.33.
As usual, Google doesn’t provide any type of change log or tell you what’s new in the new version. From what we can tell there are a few minor interface changes. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a good look at the old version before installed the new version so, other than telling you that the interface looks a little different, I can’t really tell you what the differences are.
Google Talk is a free Blackberry download and , thus far, I see no reason not to download the new version if you were using the old version. If you do decide to download it, which you can do OTA here, take a look at your current version first and see if you can tell what the changes are once you install 2.1.33.

Even with all the good stuff that we have been hearing about the BlackBerry Thunder, todays update is not so positive.
According to BGR, who has a pretty good track record with these kind of things, not only the is the BlackBerry Thunder not even close to production ready and will be at least 4 or 5 months before it is, most people who have handled it “think that it is a joke”.
Thunder is in no way shape or form market-ready. The keyboard is incredibly annoying to type on, and the screen actually shows ripples even when pressed ever-so-lightly. There is an accelerometer in here, but it goes “bonkers” when the device is moved. In its current state, the UI blinks and lags when you try to scroll, and for every key press, you have to wait half a second until you get a response.
We can only hope that BGR’s source is way off base with this stuff, but, to be honest, they usually aren’t. The BlackBerry Thunder doesn’t have to be a reproduction of the iPhone, however, it can’t suck either. It sounds like RIM has a lot of work still yet to do.

A CrackBerry.com commentator has left some juicy tidbits about the touchscreen keyboard on the upcoming touchscreen only BlackBerry Thunder. It will utilize localized haptic technology, err.. umm…, it will actually feel like you are clicking on an individual button when you touch a letter on the screen.
When you press on the Thunder’s screen, it pushes in “just” a little bit (the whole screen is sort of like a big button) and you get immediate “real” feedback - you hear an audible clickety sound, and can feel a buzz in your finger where you actually pressed on the display.
The BlackBerry Thunder will support both full QWERTY (landscape mode) and SureType (portrait mode) keyboards. We’re guessing that an accelerometer will allow seamless transition between the two.
We are also hearing the the the web browser on the BlackBerry Thunder is built on WebKit, the same engine that iPhone uses, so, multi-touch is a possibility.
I cannot wait for the BlackBerry Thunder to come out. It sounds better and better everyday.

The John Mayer tour last summer was a big hit for RIM so they decided to do it again this year.
We apologize for binging this to you a little late… The tour started a couple of weeks ago. There are still, however, plenty of dates left that run all the way through the 31st of next month.

An anonymous tipster over at BlackBerrySync.com has sent in some pretty nice looking BlackBerry Thunder pictures featuring the new media player that will access a carrier branded music store from which BlackBerry Thunder owners can access directly from their device.
Like on the iPhone you will be able to watch movies on the BlackBerry Thunder in landscape mode.
I personally, cannot wait until the BlackBerry Thunder comes out. I am still not entirely sold on the complete lack of a physical keyboard, however, the thought of a 360×480 touch screen display is exciting to say the least.

A Rogers BlackBerry Roadmap has made its way onto the web and we now have approximations as to when the BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry KickStart, and BlackBerry Javelin will hit the street.
We can only assume that these devices will hit American carriers around the same time. Time, however, will definitely tell…
