Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 Now Available For Download

Opera Mini 5 Beta 2

Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 is now available for download.  It is working just fine for me on my BlackBerry Storm 9530, however, we are hearing reports that there are issues with Beta 2 on non-touchscreen devices.  If you decide to try it out and you aren’t using a Storm or Storm2, let us know how you fair.

Since it is working for me, I will just say that it is mind boggling that a third party web browser can be so much better in so many ways than the native BlackBerry Browser.  RIM’s WebKit based browser currently under development can’t get here soon enough and if it isn’t, at the very least, on par with what you get in Android,  Palm’s Web OS, or, dare I even say, Mobile Safari on the iPhone, it will be a very, very, long year for RIM.

Sweet on the Storm2. Don’t even have to press down on links…wish the Storm2 itself did that for everything.

On Bold 9700, seems to install ok. But when launched, my 9700 hang. Does not work on 9700. Had to uninstall.

There is no way to use it with the 9700. The first beta was ok, the current beta hangs and doesn’t respond to clicks. Opera Mini 4.2 is not working, too, because you can’t click the menu items.

Works well with the original Storm with OS 5.0. The non-clicking links throws you off but you get used to it. Wish that they would have stuck with the standard blackberry menu. Its a little annoying to have one way to close any application with the exception of this one where you have to click the tool icon, then click exit.

Overall way better than the Blackberry browser for browsing. Downloads and videos are lame, just opens the BB browser.

Doesn’t work on Tour. Doesn’t respond to trackball clicks and curser doesn’t even respond to trackball movement. Everything else looks great, though. Anyone know when they’ll get this fixed?
