Official eBay BlackBerry App

Research in Motion and eBay have teamed up to offer an official eBay app for the BlackBerry which is now available on BlackBerry App World.

The eBay BlackBerry app, which is currently in beta, allows you to search, watch, bid, and purchase items via PayPal directly from your device.  The eBay BlackBerry app also pushes notifications to you in real time letting you know if you’ve won an item, have been outbid, or if an listing is ending soon.

The official eBay BlackBerry app is a free BlackBerry download, so, definitely check it out if you use eBay.  Something tells me that this application is going to be somewhat of a hit.

BEWARE. I just downloaded this on my VZW Tour from App World and it caused a reboot and bricked my BB with a 552 error. What kind of crap is this? I guess I’ll be spending my morning reloading the OS and all the apps.

I just tweeted this out to see if anyone else is having the same experience.

FYI, over in the Crackberry blog post on this same announcement, where I left the same comment, two other users (one 9630, one 9000) confirmed they had the same 552 experience. Lovely.

The Tour has had some OS issues. I’m on my 10th (that’s correct) and finally have a unit that has not…

1. …had a trackball issue (4 units),
2. garbled voice (1 unit),
3. OS crash with a 552 error when loading new apps (4 units).

I personally had 4 units crash with a 552 error, but it wasn’t to any particular app. I had it happen twice with BB messenger when upgrading. It seems that the OS on the Tour isn’t stable. I even displayed the process for my friends at VZW and they themselves were able to crash a unit themselves. The Tour just has a bad OS version. Drove me insane. My 10th unit works fine, however it’s been retired with the Storm2 taking its place.

Good luck with the replacement.

Really the UI looks as pictured? It might get the job done, but can’t there be some craft, some elegance too? The UI and graphics look like windoz 3.1. circa 1992.

I can’t believe it. They have an ebay app for every BB except for the curve 8350i which is mine. Truly sucks.
