Just how much does the BlackBerry 8703e cost?

by Robb Dunewood on September 17, 2006 · 16 comments

The BlackBerry 8703e from Verizon is available for sale today, however, we aren’t quite sure how much the device actually costs. According to the screen shot, the 8703e cost $349 with a $100 online rebate with a two year plan, however, costs $399 with a one year plan.

If you read the previous post, you are probably asking yourself, “Didn’t he just say that?”, and you would be correct. I am just saying it again because Verizon will eventually correct their website so the screen shot on this post will help explain it a bit better.

It will cost $469.99 if you don’t qualify for new service or an upgrade.

I agree that the website is confusing.

However, having dealt quite a bit with Verizon, perhaps I can make some sense of it.

The intent is to show that the 2 yr contract price is normally $349.99…but that you get a special $100 discount for ordering online, bringing the total to $249.99.

The 1 yr contract price is $399.99, and you do not get the special online discount.

The site does not show a non-contract price, or MSRP.

But again, the site sure is confusing. Hopefully someone from the necessary office from Verizon will read these sites and a correction will be made.

I ordered it on their website on Saturday night late, and here it us Tuesday and they still have not shipped, nor billed me, it’s just in a status of ‘we received your order’. So not sure if they are sitting on these orders for a few days…

Whats confusing?

Full retail $469.99

1 year $399.99

2 year $349.99 Save $50 from a 1 year aggrement. plus take $100 off (instant online discount) = $249.99

Why is everyone confused about this?

Got mine delivered today. Installation was a breeze, all my enterprise server options were transferred and the devise was ready to rock in 5 minutes. I had to pay the EDF on Cingular, but it was well worth it.

I ordered mine late Saturday night, got email confirmation that it was being processed early this afternoon and another email this evening with FedEx tracking number that says it’ll be here tomorrow.
