Is BlackBerry Connect for the Nokia E61 Ready?

Earlier today All about Symbian reported that BlackBerry Connect for the Nokia E61 was available for download on the Nokia Business Software site and for a short time it was, however, the download has since been removed.

In the place of the Nokia E61 BlackBerry Connect download is a notice stating that
The BlackBerry client for Nokia E60, Nokia E61 and Nokia E70 available soon. Please stay tuned.”

My guess is that they found some last minute bugs and had to pull the download from the site….

I downloaded it this morning from this link and it still appears to be active.

Try that link to the BlackBerry Connect Client for the Nokia E61 at your own risk. I did, however, see the same link to the dowload posted on BlackBerry Forums.

It’ll be interesting to see how well the BlackBerry Connect client was implemented on this device. I wish I could try BB Connect on my MDA!

Robb, did you get any chance to test this device out? Just curious!

No Rick, I have not, however, rumor has it that cingular will be releasing the E62 in the states any time now. As soon as they do. I will see if I cannot get my hands on one.

Hi Rick,

After spending 3 days with BB Connect, I took it off my E61 last night. It was a combination of software and RIM/Cingular’s failing.

First, BB Connect on E61 monopolise the GPRS connection and so while it runs you can’t have access to WAP. I’ve heard other ppl able to get wap access through a second APN. I’ve tried that but it doesn’t work for me.

Second, Cingular’s BIS 2.0 upgrade on Monday didn’t went that well. I have to call Cingular CS to get my PIN activated after waiting over a day. Then after setting up 3 email accounts, RIM stops me from adding more, saying I’ve reached the max limit. When I called into Cingular, they said E61 is not supported by Cingular and RIM so can’t help me even though it was obviously a server issue, not device.

These two issues really pissed me off enough last night that I took off BB Connect from my E61.

The E61 BB client is *back* on “www.businesssoftware.nokia.com”.

Installation ok, but registration (using PIN/IMEI) failed; my provider (T-Mobile/Germany) told me that E61s are not supported (maybe: yet). Seems they have to update some software, too.

P.S.: “The BlackBerry client for Nokia E60 and Nokia E70 available soon. Please stay tuned.”

I installed BB Connect on the E61 and it worked great until i updated the phone firmware today and it caused BB to stop working. BB and the new firmware are obviously not compatible.
