Free BlackBerry PlayBook Offer for Developers Extended

February 14, 2012 by Robb Dunewood Leave a Comment

Based on the overwhelming  interest in the Free BlackBerry PlayBook offer for developers Research in Motion has extended the offer for an additional two weeks.

To get a free BlackBerry PlayBook, developers must register as a BlackBerry App World vendor by 11:59 PM EST on February 15, 2012 and submit an app BlackBerry App World by 11:59 PM EST on March 2, 2012.

Registration is pretty easy.  I took me less than 3 minutes or so to go through the process.  Next we will submit an Android App that we created a year or so ago.

I’m not sure how long submitting my app will actually take, but, I am guessing that getting a free PlayBook for my trouble is worth going through the process.

BlackBerry DevCon attendees get a free BlackBerry PlayBook

October 3, 2011 by Robb Dunewood 4 Comments

We just heard that registered BlackBerry DevCon attendees will receive a free 16 GB BlackBerry PlayBook to help kick start the development of their next application.  This news doesn’t come as too much as a surprise as Free PlayBook tablets were given to attendees of BlackBerry World back in May.

This BlackBerry PlayBook tablet offer is open to those who have registered, paid in full and checked-in onsite at BlackBerry DevCon Americas 2011 in San Francisco. This offer will not be available for companion pass holders, event staff, or Research In Motion® (RIM®) employees.

The big question for me is if this offer is valid for attendees that pay the student rate of $199.  If it is, this is probably the best way to pick a BlackBerry PlayBook up for under 200 bucks.

Free BlackBerry PlayBook Offer For BlackBerry Tablet App Developers

December 7, 2010 by Robb Dunewood Leave a Comment

We’ve mentioned a time or two before that that Research in Motion is giving away a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to any developer that gets a BlackBerry PlayBook application accepted into BlackBerry App World by the time the PlayBook launches, however, with the announcement that BlackBerry App World is now accepting PlayBook apps for submission, we figured that we should mention it again.

Free BlackBerry PlayBook offer overview

Developers who create a qualifying application for the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet prior to its initial North American release are eligible for a free BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. The main criterion to qualify for the free BlackBerry PlayBook tablet offer is to have a qualifying application accepted into BlackBerry App World™, subject to certain Terms and Conditions.

You can submit multiple BlackBerry PlayBook tablet apps into BlackBerry App World, but each BlackBerry App World vendor will only qualify for one free BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. Apps will need to meet the BlackBerry App World Vendor Guidelines.

SecondTab is a free BlackBerry application that allows you to open up a second BlackBerry Browser window and switch between them like you would any other running application by holding down your menu button.  It isn’t exactly tabbed browsing, but, provides the ability to switch between browser windows which comes in handy quite often.  One of the best things about SecondTab is that it is FREE!
